Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Joshua R. Stinson Pos: SP; BR-TR.Born: March 14, 1988 in Shreveport, Louisiana. (He'll be 23 in 2011.)Birth Context Karma: Nothing was happening with the Mets but spring fun when Wee Joshie was born. A week later, the Mets traded Bill Almon to the Phils for Shawn Barton and Vladimir Perez, neither of whom made the bigs. Perez was the younger brother of major leaguers Pascual and Melido Perez, and supposedly shared the family temperament, if not the talent. In the real world, George H.W. Bush and Michael Dukakis shored up their campaigns as they put Super Tuesday behind them.Acquired: Selected by the Mets in the 37th round of the 2006 draft out of Northwood High School in Atlanta.TmLgWLW-L%ERAGGSGFCGSHOSVIPHRERHRBBIBBSOHBPBKWPBFWHIPH/9HR/9BB/9SO/9SO/BBAwardsBinghamtonEL (AA)93.7504.2432147001110.33108575275006840104811.4328.80.64.15.51.36ASBuffaloIL (AAA)22.5002.5744010028.0022108580210001121.0717.11.62.66.82.63TotalAll115.6883.9036187101138.331306760125808940105931.3598.50.83.85.81.53Number: Will you still need me? Will you still feed me? Josh in 64.Wife: Unknown.Nickname: I think I'll call him Princess Bag.Namesakes:I actually thought this guy was him. Yikey.Best Day in 2010: I dunno.Last Word: I'm a fan of promoting minor league managers as a general rule. That way the successful players move up with the manager (and perhaps the coaching staff) with whom they succeeded, and the unsuccessful players who aren't promototed get another set of eyes on them. Anyhow, Josh should move up to Buffalo and work for the same Tim Teufel who managed him to All-Star status in the Eastern League. The very same one.Josh was an AFL player in 2009, and has credited the slider he developed with GCL Mets coach Rob Ellis for his success. What do you expect of Josh Stinson in 2011?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Guess he's got a shot in September. One start, 4 ER in 6 IP, 3 BB, 2 K, no decision.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 That 68/50 SO/BB ratio was living on the edge in Bingo. It won't fly at higher levels and he fortunately forsook it in Buffalo. Let's hope that rate is behind him because there's seemingly little future with it.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Gets one start for the big club as a fill in and he becomes a distant memory in a couple, three years.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I expect you'll be hearing from Ed Wolfstein's lawyers before long.As for Josh Stinson, surely that's an ABC Movie of the Week ballplayer name.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 A few innings in September, and maybe an emergency start during the summer. Otherwise, Buffalo.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 We won't see him this year.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Who the hell is Josh Stinson? I swear, you're making these guys up.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 It was only a four-game sample, but he did pitch better in Buffalo. So is he one of the guys Alderson put on the 40 to protect him from Rule V?I wouldn't expect much this year, although he may have respectable future in the pen down the road.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 1-3, 5.29.I josh you not.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Throws hard, it seems, but the strikeouts/9 numbers have trended steadily downward with each year/jump in level.A couple of relief appearances in September this year or next, then down the Metmory hole.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Joshua R. StinsonBorn: March 14, 1988 in Shreveport, Louisiana. (He'll be 23 in 2011.)I spent a few days in Shreveport for work two years ago. In July.Holy hell, I've never been somewhere hotter and duller than that.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Gets called up in May after a slew of injuries for a spot start, throws eight shutout innings to win a short-term spot in the rotation.Gets eleven starts, goes 5-2, 3.88, gets traded in July for Asdrubal Cabrera. Wins the 2012 AL Cy Young for the pennant-winning Indians.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I was going to write: "No Mets baseball card for Josh Stinson". But I checked out check out my cards and looky here:
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Oh, I did know Josh Stinson. I have two copies of the green x-fractor version of that card.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I see he wears 88, the year of his birth.
