Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 You'd think if they were going to cut Ollie or Luis loose it'd have happened by now. Not to say I won't continue to wish for these things to happen.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Thanks, Now let's trim some of the ambiguity out, wolfie. We're being graded.I won't ask you to answer in the form of a question.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 Regarding (7), Alderson has been flying around the country and fulfilling his other obligations as he manager-shops, leaving me curious if he's going to be operating regularly out of New York or not. And, knowing how controversy is made of almsot nothing, I wonder if an issue will be made of it.I mean, don't you typically bring prospects in for an interview, walk them around the stadium, let them meet some other folks they'd be working with.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 He'll be in NYC. I didn't realize jetsetting was an issue already.

And if we're still pretending Evans is an outfielder, I think he's out of options.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 1. Who will manage? Tim Teufel. I know he's a longshot, but my Spidey senses tell me he was the kind of player that Sandy wants in a manager. I know that's not all that logical, but it is what it is.2. Who will be replaced on the coaching staff? Everybody? Warthen and Hale will remain.3. Will the secondbaseman be an internal guy or will they look outside? From the outside. Hudson might be nice, but it may be Eckstein instead.4. Beltran in center or right on opening day? Right5. Will Reyes be extended or traded or will they allow him to play out his walk year. Extended before Opening Day6. Will Oliver Perez be shed? Yes7. Will this jet set scene continue, or will he be a regular in Flushing? Flushing. Will the secondbaseman be an internal guy or will they look outside? Internal. Opening Day, it's Tejada or Castillo. Lion's share of year/B-R.com "starter?" I'll go with Dark Horse Danny Murph.4. Beltran in center or right on opening day? Center, but not inflexible.5. Will Reyes be extended or traded or will they allow him to play out his walk year. Extended.6. Will Oliver Perez be shed? Well, eventually, we all are, aren't we? (Yes.)7. Will this jet set scene continue, or will he be a regular in Flushing? Not to this extent, but... well... he'll have a lot of little scotches.8. Francisco Rodriguez? What is, this year's closer?9. Which of these semi-ripe guys gets a big opportunity out of camp: a) Lucas Duda? Welcome to the bench! Fernando Martinez? Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Ten-Decison Challenge Update, November 11.Mets in the second phase of interviews. Speculation is around Terry Collins, but that changes almost daily. Wally Backman has surprised some by getting a second interview. No update on the coaches.Daniel Murphy is hitting .306 (and OPSing .786) in the Dominican Winter League and Mike Silva ~ November 9th, 2010. Filed under: Mike Silva reports that Joe Delgrippo reports that the Mets want Daniel Murphy to start at second base.Swinging Andy Martino reports that Carlos Beltran is open to moving from center.7 Train to Shea is reporting --- and plenty more established outlets are using 7 Train as a source and repeating --- that the Mets are putting out some inquiries regarding trading Jose Reyes.Oliver Perez is not succeeding so far in Winter ball.No updates yet on Sandy Alderson's househunting.Francisco Rodriguez has been living with disgraced equipment manager Charlie Samuels. That don't look good.Fernando Martinez is allegedly scheduled to play winter ball, but I can't find him. The other guys, I dunno.Santa shmanta but the reports have the Yankees planning to rake it in this Christmas, so hopefully the Mets throw a nice classy little shindig.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Swinging Andy Martino reports that Carlos Beltran is open to moving from center. He says so himself.FROM MetsBlog's "Transcript" of Today's Conference Call from PR:UPDATE, 1:15 p.m.: Beltran feels he can still play center field, but is all for doing whatever is best for the team. If Alderson asks him to move to a corner position, he will listen.7 Train to Shea is reporting --- and plenty more established outlets are using 7 Train as a source and repeating --- that the Mets are putting out some inquiries regarding trading Jose Reyes.Seems to me that more established outlets have pretty shitty hunches about what tips to follow. Can someone who's been paying closer attention tell me what Pignataro's record on this sort of thing has been? (I don't recall anything significant coming out of 7 Train's source pool first at any point in the past... and absolutely NOBODY has anything else on this.)
