Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Don Zimmer --- not high on the Alderson list.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Just got an email from Cablevision, watch the WS on mlb.com for $9:95 and cablevision will credit your bill $10?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Makes me think this won't be settled anytime soon.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Hugely stupid and uninformed question from an out-of-towner, Mike: Can't Cablevison subscribers unplug their cable and pick up FOX's broadcast signal?

Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I think the over-the-air signals changed over to HDTV re-cently so you'd need a special antennae or add-on? I'd neverpick it up well enough up here without a roof top anyways andthat blew off three years ago.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 antennas is antennas. er. antennae are antennae. the signals are still on the same frequencies, essentially. the only difference is the type of signal being sent. so a pair of rabbit ears would work fine if the signal is strong enough by you. otherwise amplified antennae are easy enough to come by that should do the trick, and aren't too expensive. what you need is a digital tv or a digital-to-analog converter box that'll let your old crusty analog tv work.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 And most late-model TVs are digital. And weren't converter boxes were being given out like candy by the gummint to old-school analog holdouts?

I'm making a large aluminum foil,I mean realllllyyyyy large aluminum foil antenna as we speak.Thank god for Costco bulk wraps!!!
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 And don't laugh at me fellas, when was the last time you whippedout a solder gun and knew where it was to boot? Solder flux doesnot look good with time but it works!
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 John Legend sang a nice National Anthem. And without wearing anything ridiculous!
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 I'm watching the Isles (in SD, stupid msg overflow rangers/knicks suck..bleh) I thought about doing the mlb.tv thing, but that only gets you fixed camera angles, and I think i should have the audio already if I want it.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Plugged in an old portable, adjusted the antenna and...nothing.But this is quite helpful. Video and English-language audio, together again. Only one pitch behind real-time ESPN Radio.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Thanks, I forgot the Knicks season started tonight.I have never heard of John Legend. Is that his real last name?
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 "Survivor" for us. This is the first Wednesday night I've actually been home to watch it live all season.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 According to Fox Sports, Cliff Lee "chews up bats." Like Ozzy Osbourne?
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Cliff Lee said to "handle the bat" well, and he doubles. Who knew they knew what they were talking about on Fox?
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Rangers playing some excellent National League baseball -- Molina tags from third, Lee tags from second. Texas up 2-nil.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Well, one feed has been pulled but another one has become available, this one MLB International's.If I were stationed in Afghanistan, I'd feel lucky that I could follow this at all.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Gary Thorne hasn't lost his tendency to announce every bat meeting ball incidence with too much excitement.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 No MFYs, no MFPs in this round. Hope this fact is still being appreciated/enjoyed.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Darn good baseball game between these two teams. And even if it was a terrible baseball game, it would be phenomenal considering who's not in it.Gary Thorne just gave the time of tomorrow's MLB International coverage as 7:30 Eastern, 23:30 Greenwich Mean Time.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 YES! It only took them until the 5th inning to mention that Elvis Andrus patterned himself after.................Derek Jeter. They just can't stay away.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Gary Thorne just referred to Freddie Sanchez's third double as "three triples" and then pretended he said doubles all along, reminding me how irritatingly arrogant Thorne is on TV. The moment they took him away from Murph is the moment he commenced to suck.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 27, 2010 Posted October 27, 2010 Second feed of the night just disappeared. Fuck Cablevision, fuck Fox, fuck Selig.
