That was almost very interesting.
Phillips' tossed bat hit the dribbler up the line a few feet. I saw the ump point to it so he appeared to notice the contact but I'm not sure what the call w/should have been if the bat knocked the ball enough to prevent catcher Ruiz from making the play.

And in the understatement of the day, boy is that Halladay good. Once it became fairly apparent which way this game was going, I was going with history. Maybe a little more overconfidence will seep into the Phillie clubhouse -- and at least the MFYs can't claim the only one of these (sort of) in baseball history.

Yanks have a history (once ro twice anyhow) of calling the game if there's a 20% chance of rain and a 100% chance of Halladay. Here's hoping he chews them up if they face each other in the Series.

Here's how detached I've become:

I had forgotten that a game was on, but when I remembered, I checked online to see what the score was. I saw it was the 8th inning and there was a no-hitter in progress. And that still didn't motivate me to turn on the TV. I didn't find out that the had gotten the no-hitter until I saw the newspaper this morning.

Hamels is a pretty boy and I think he'll crack at the first sign of his stuff not working correctly or the Reds not biting or maybe the umpire not giving every call to him. I think the Reds erupt for 10 runs on Friday.

I'm hoping that Halladay's pitching has challenged the Reds hitters to really have to step it up, and when the other pitchers aren't as good, and when Halladay isn't as good, they'll be on him hard.

I don't care if it's grasping at straws.

It occurred to me as I was watching the final outs of the no-hitter that this was Cincy's first playoff* game since getting 2-hit by Leiter.
That's not a good "streak" to be on.

Yup. At one point there was something like 7 straight Phils who reached base did so without a hit. Walks, HBPs (3 in a 5 batter span), errors, more errors, plays simply not made, throws to the wrong base, etc.
