That can be arranged, you sad, .320-OBing bastich. You'll want to maintain a nice hold on your luggage, so lift with your legs, and

USE

TWO

HANDS.

(Holy shit... do these guys think this league is some sort of tenure-based fraternity?)

Not to defend Castillo, but that's a dropped popup of an article.

"I can't be here anymore," the second baseman told The Post before last night's series opener against the Phillies at Citi Field. "I know I'm not going to be here next year."

Now, if he can predict the team willing to take him, it would make Omar's job a heck of a lot easier.

As long as Omar is around, yeah...

Considering that Castillo currently is sitting in favor of a guy who's hitting .183 for the season and is 4 for his last 53, if there is a tenure system no one seems to have told the guy making out the lineup cards.

And who wouldn't be frustrated in such a benching?

Well, on Castillo's behalf, what is he supposed to say? "No, I suck and I deserved to be benched?" Those guys just don't think that way.

Yeah, sometimes you feel like they missed part of the story.

So the two guys who most fans say should be dealt say they want to be dealt.
And they are not the greatest of commodities.
At least people are agreeing on stuff, and stuff.
I'm not even considering Ollie in that equation.

Castillo, imo, was coming around to the point where he was hitting the ball as well as he is able.
His fielding was a lil bit sporadic but not overly so. He even made some real fine plays at 2nd right before
T-boy came up. He looked like he was finding his groovethang.
I guess we don't want that, huh?

I like Tejeda alot and I like him up on the club for a few reasons, but I'm really surprised,
being how Castillo was progressing, that it was to dethrone Luis at this time. This does not make sense.
Its like Chewbacca living on Endor. Ladies and gentlemen, none of this makes sense!

If the front office is going into "next season mode", it makes sense.
But hey, "Don't give up on us baaaaby,..."

Tejada has superior range and, especially if you've given up on the season, you'd like to see him get some ABs to help you determine how high a priority the position should be in the offseason

Try telling R.A. Dickey that they have given up on the season, I got chills listening to him address the stadium last night when Burkhardt had him on the post-game.

"If they think that [Tejada's] the best player, that's OK," Castillo said. "I just don't want to be a backup when I've been playing every day for my whole career." Outfielder Jeff Francoeur supported the team's decision to play the rookie Tejada: "Tejada's below average stats shouldn't reduce his playing time. He's made so many outs already, you know that he's due for a hot streak. The more outs a player makes, the more likely that his next at bat will be a hit. We can't afford to miss out on Tejada's next hits now that the pennant race is heating up".

Not a whole lot of wisdom there.

No wisdom at all but it's brilliant from Jeff , quote of the season maybe.

Shenanigans on that quote. Love it anyway.

Yeah, but while we certainly don't want to discourage sarcasm around here, putting a made-up quote in a quote box with an accompanying link implying that's where it came from is something I think we'd be better off not doing.

OO, thats a Bozo no-no.

I take what you guys say as gospel when it's posted as a quote or something like that.

I can see me picking up the phone, calling one of my brothers and saying,"Hey, you'll never guess what Frenchy said today...," while I peruse through the link.

lol.

Are we supporting the idea of giving up? Really?

I have far less resentment toward Castillo for sucking but still wanting to continue his livelihood than I do toward Minaya for giving him a four-year contract that I feel I can pretty honestly say was universally panned at the time by anyone with a lick of sense.

"Because", Francoeur added, "if Tejada gets benched for struggling for two weeks, what chance do I have of playing?"

Can't Frenchy, Luis and Ollie be handed separate "itineraries" for the next road trip that take them into an easily locked closet instead of the team flight to Houston? Surely it would take them a while to figure out they weren't at an airport.

Not me.
Not at all.
If Omar and Jeff are I think they should just say it.
I still won't give up til they are officially out of it but I will pin more of my hopes in a future area.

Shoot, I forgot that was also a TV show.
I loved that game! And the show.
That and Mousetrap would keep my outta my moms hair for hours.

What elseis Castillo supposed to think really? The team seemingly has tried to trade him every offseason and every trade deadline. The fans rail against him at every chance, despite the only real sin he's committed is a dropped pop-up against the evil empire, which is bad, but they hated him before that. He's been benched for a rookie that can't hit, who while might be his superior defensively, is nto without his defensive flaws. He certainly can't feel wanted and welcome. He was OPSing .890 in August before the decision to sit him was made.

The team has subtly given up. I'm not sure they were ever serious about _really_ trying to compete this season anyway. Fernando Martinez is another one. I think there were better temporary options in that regard too.

Personally, I never hated the contract. I figured 6million wasn't too much to shuffle away in the 4th year if he did indeed decline to uselessness. He was healthy last year, tripping down the stairs not withstanding, and it's not his knees or legs this year that hurt him, but a fluke bone bruise on his foot. I get that he's not a powerful guy, but I just don't get why people really hate him and want/wanted him gone in favor of guys like Ruben Gotay, Argenis Reyes, etc.

It seemingly has caused the Mets to be a worse team.
