Also Jerry's been suspended for tonight's game as a result of the umpire incident in LA. (Source: Andy McCulloch twitter).[/quote:11vxmkjj]

I guess there was "a touching incident" [insert joke here] during the argument cuz you don't normally get suspensions for simple ejections.
I did notice the ump pointing to his hat at one point possibly indicating that Jerry had "pecked" him [more set-up lines].

This is such a stupid rule. or interpretation of the rule. Like when umpires interpret a brushing of the uniform by the ball as a HBP despite the batter often not trying to get out of the way.

I think he hit a couple of grand slams once.

UPDATE: Nobody else hurt or suspended in the last 20 minutes.

Niese costs himself a run with his ill advised attempt to field a chopper over his head toward second.
He deflects an easy third out into an RBI blahber.

Wow, Wright saved a few runs here in the 1st with some nice glove work.
This could have been much worse.

Pujols is injured.
Looks like he might have a concussion in his ribcage.

SNY rockin the low def letterboxes feed. Totally 2003 of them. And 2003 sucked![/quote:3q2snx8g]

MLB Network is carrying the SNY HD feed. Complete with look-ins (cut-aways) to ARod's attempts at 600.

BOOO!!!!

The rule is very specific about (1) the batter having to get out of the way, and (2) the uniform counting as part of the batter's person. I don't think this is an issue or a matter of interpretation of the rules.

Not bad, huh?

Seriously, pretty cool how the guy dressed as Keith Hernandez caught the ball.

They showed the clip of Jerry's cap/bill touching the umps cap/bill as they jawed, and it was obviously unintentional.
Ron said two things:
1) The rule is the rule.
2) Interesting that managers cannot appeal, as players can.

Hawk, you have a five-run lead and a caverous ballpark. Throw strikes.

Frenchy, you have two hands. Use them.

Did Yadier strain something taking a walk?

Niese gets a little wild and gets out of it in the 6th.
Cards load the bases but cannot plate a run.

The booths right, we cannot let the Cards back into this, no matter what.

Molina is lifted.
No word yet why.

1) The rule is a zero-tolerance rule to prevent arguers from even coming close to umpires. That way, even if it's accidental, you pay the price because you knew that going in. That's why it's different from the HBP rules

2) It's known as not having a union.

Niese will bat for himself and stay in.
I like this.

But if anyone reaches in the 7th...

Niese singles. Woot.
Rather not see him running. ><

Reyes must have read my anti-bunting twat on twatter.

Reyes takes solace in hitting the new pitcher.

Just like Hale and Castillo supremely judged that the Cardinal CF had a weak arm a couple innings ago.

I love how we are kicking ass in the game (in this series) we were least likely to win.
