Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Thinking about it, the Marlins putting the skids on this --- and they almost kinda have to in order to go through the motions of giving serious-looking interviews to minority candidates --- is almost kinda huge, as it seemingly keeps Bobby from taking over in time for the Puerto Rico series, which would seriously steal some thiunda from the streaking Mets.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Lost in the story of the Edwin Jackson game was the tidbit that the D'backs granted permission for coach Bo Porter to interview for the job.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 It has to suck to be the TBG (Token Black Guy) in these interviews. Sorry, Bo.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Heyman tweets that Bobby V. will not manage the Marlins.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Woo-hoo!Of course, Heyman's the one who said the opposite last week, right?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 If this didn't fall apart over money, I'll eat a teal hat.

Please. I have that much ON me. That's not gonna be an issue....I don't know. We go on the road again now, plus we have that brutal road trip at the end of July. I can't see it taking much longer than that....Ok. Good. How's everything else?...Yes, I did see that. Isn't that wild? I've never even heard of 'Fanhouse TV'....Omigod, and the set...did you see the set? So fucking funny...
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 That's great. Ed works for Fanhouse too, right? Here's what he's tweeting.Assuming 350 feet each, the record 506 career home runs allowed by Jamie Moyer, placed end-to-end, would stretch about 33 1/2 miles.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Dumb thought: is it too late for Valentine to jump into the Connecticut Republican Senatorial Primary race and beat Linda McMahon? For a year (middle of seventh to middle of eighth grade), I was classmates with one of the other candidates: . He talks about his Connecticut roots, but our junior high was on Long Island (and nowhere near the Sound) and he had moved up from Miami.Bobby V could filibuster with the best of 'em.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 As per Ken Rosenthal, here's how it went down.As of noon ET Tuesday, there remained two differing versions of how the Marlins initial talks with Valentine disintegrated:* Marlins officials were turned off by Valentine during their initial phone conservations with him.* Valentine grew disenchanted with the Marlins and decided to pull back and consider other options. The Marlins need to interview other candidates to satisfy the commissioners guidelines on minority hiring also might have contributed to the process slowing down, sources said.So... kind of a non-answer answer, eh?
