batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Johan and Pelfrey, then Don't Pray for Aridity(Not to be confused with the Johan and Pelfrey then pray for snow flurries thread.)Tonight, Johan Santana will try and avenge his last start against the MFY's -- his worst outing ever, to date. But not as worse as Johan's last start against the Phillies three weeks ago, which was worser than his worst.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2010 Author Posted May 23, 2010 After crushing a Randy Johnson pitch over MFY center-fielder Bernie Williams for a double, Dae-Sung Koo then scores from second base on a sacrifice when home plate is left unguarded.Carlos Delgado is in nine ribeye steaks in one game form.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 NewYorkMets #Mets Daniel Murphy continued his rehab assignment going 5-5 with a double and 3 RBI for St. Lucie at Lakeland. He is hitting .727 so far. So Murphy is days away from returning. The obvious cut is GMJ but do the Mets trust Bay and Francoeur to play CF if Pagan can't?
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Daniel Murphy: Notoriously fast starter. Notorious because he doesn't hit .500 for whole or partial seasons. If he doesn't keep up the .727 pace, we'll have to cope.I thought the idea was to let Murph play some different positions at Buffalo for a while. But if he's got the hot bat, I can't see not exploiting it right away somewhere.Where? Danged if I know.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I think they're not looking to trust Bay and/or Francoeur and/or Cora as their number two in center. We've discussed it in many theads, but the plan appears to be a AAA assignment where they get him time at multiple positions in preparation for his likely role, so don't think he's days away.If he forces the issue by continuing to hit like gangbusters in AAA, Carter and Tatis have as much to fear as Matthews. Matthews is certainly under threat, but not so much from Murphy.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2010 Author Posted May 23, 2010 Matthews' biggest threat is Matthews. Like most everybody else, he's probably his own worst enemy.

Why don't you make a current list and see if you haven't moved up a few notches?
