Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Are they all going to wear No. 42 today, or did that fad pass?Let's go Mets! Get this win tonight!

No slight to Jackie intended.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 No, but I think overstatement is taking any gravity away from the gesture. I'd prefer they just let every team elect one player to wear it that day.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 In addition to the rosterful of 42s in Denver today, the Mets are doing their Jackie tribute Monday night at home, so one guesses they'll all be renumbered once more. Ed Charles and Al Jackson will be on hand.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Costa tweeting the Maine has just completed a bullpen session and Reyes says he is not ready to bat third.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Do as you're told, Reyes.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Can you be ready to bat first but not ready to bat third? How about second, does the level of readiness there fall in between that of first and third or does it not work that way?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I don't think he's ready to fail while batting third, which is a disappointing thought.

Trying to get reacclimated before being piled on with added expectations by his 'manager'? And obviously not second. Second is solely for bunting (reinforced by the idea that Pagan 8th is practice for leadoff) and that's totally different.

Jerry says you're coming out of the bullpen tonight, you're coming out of the fucking bullpen. Jerry says you're serving hot dogs on the lower concourse, you strap one of those fucking hot dog totes around your neck and start yelling. You think Leo Durocher would have taken that shit? Screw you, kid. Enjoy sitting on the bench and watching your teammates lose 18-1 tonight while I make an example of you.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I'm not yet going to go Seawolf on Reyes but for fucks sake man get a grip.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 I'm not going to, but only because Manuel's indulgence has entitled him to make such statements.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 TRANSACTIONSNew York Mets: Placed SS Jose Reyes on 15-Day Disabled List with strained neck (one of those fucking hot dog totes). In real life, Francoeur's back is bothering him but he plays on.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 Here's hoping that with all those gray 42s on base, Mets batters break the collar barrier.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 Bay indeed breaks the RISP collar barrier, 1-0 visitors.
