The Daily News has a trivia question in a feature called "Extra Innings" , perhaps Martino brought that with him, Martino btw blogs each game.

Test Your Mets IQ

Other than Tom Seaver, what other Mets have worn # 41?

Don't go running to http://mbtn.net/ for the answer.

Gordon Richardson was the last Met to wear #41, immediately prior to Seaver. I'm sure of this much. I don't know the other 41's, though.

Clem Labine. I wore my 1969 Seaver jersey to a card show, and he said "Hey, you're wearing my jersey!"

He was a nice guy.

The last player I am looking for finished his Mets career 2-0 having pitched 40 innings as an 18 year old , never again appeared in the Majors .

The memories of this player at UMDB features an interesting "memory" regarding this player and weather he was the only "bonus baby" ever signed by the Mets.

I once met Ed Bauta, and asked him to sign with his Met number, and he signed #41. "Like Seaver" But I've never been able to confirm otherwise.
