duan Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 apparently Barry Zito plunked Prince Fielder the other day because of this. http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=6511913baseball's whole "don't show people up" is such bullshit .
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Immortalized on Prince's Topps card this year also.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I love that celebration. Excellent stuff. They plunked him, he took his base. it's over. well, until next time. :-D
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Whether you believe in that "rule" or not, all bets should be off on a game-winner. Sorry guys, the game is over, and your feelings are no longer an issue. If Zito wants to send a message he really needs to plunk about 24 more guys.
Guest attgig Guests Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 you mean he plunked him with his 80 mph fastball? oh zito...

Wasn't their a stupid NFL (not that they're aren't a zillion of these) rule issue this season where someone did something to the Giants after the half ended and since the quarter was over the Giants automatically had to decline the penalty?

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 I'm generally against the trend towards more 'check-me-out - over-the-top' type of celebrations ... but this one was pretty funny and the game was over at that point. By the same token, Zito plunking Prince on the broad side of his broad body with a BP fastball in ST is just a not-so-subtle way of saying that the Giants remember the incident but it's not like there was a whole lot of menace behind it.If the details of this thing were different I could see getting more riled up by it but, as is, it's mostly a non-story IMO.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 It may be just a thiing, but eventually somebody is going to seriously hurt somebody else with a payback or purpose pitch, and it probably won't be a big-leaguer, but some kid in Rapid City just doing what the pros do.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 This is still hilarious, and that may just be the best photograph I've ever seen on laminated cardboard ("french" playing cards included).

dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 It's often said that scoring a goal is better then sex [/quote:2xhkcwpo]Whoever said that just isn't doing it right
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 maybe you're just not a good enough goal-scorer.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Exactly! If you think goal scoring is better than sex, it's because you haven't screwed Sean Estes.
duan Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 I didn't say that I thought that goal scoring was better then sex, just that it's a common enough assertion. But it is a great rush.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Um , I for one didn't think the celebration was all that.
