Guest 86-Dreamer Guests Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 The internet just told me that Adam LaRouche is about to write his name on a contract w/ the D-Bags for 1 year/$4-5 mils. I woulda been all over that shit.http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/baseball/mlb/01/14/laroche.diamondbacks/index.html[/quote:lpb5b6qk]Healthy, good defense, good power and average at reasonable price for the short term at a position of need. I have thought since the start of FA season that he was a perfect fit, but sadly he did not seem to be on Omar's agenda. I would like to know why, you know what I'm sayin?
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 From Amazin Avenue:By Craig Calcaterra --Deep Thought: For what the Mets are going to likely pay Bengie Molina, they could have signed Adam LaRoche and any of the multiple $3 million-and-cheaper catchers who have signed this winter and who aren't appreciably worse than Molina, including but not limited to Gregg Zaun, Miguel Olivo, John Buck, and Ivan Rodriguez. And even if you think Molina is the best of the bunch, isn't Molina + Daniel Murphy at first base < any of these guys + Adam LaRoche at first base?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Why willing to believe Molina could be the best of the bunch but not willing to believe a rookie could have a good second season and be better than the slow-starting Adam LaRoche?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 If a one-year righthanded helper to Murphyy is the what they're perhaps looking for, and they want a guy who could play some at other positions, maybe, um, Nomah?

That would rekindle the arguement that Jeter was not the best shortstop (when they all played the position) among Derek, A-Rod and Nomar. And we couldn't allow that to happen. Could we? (snicker)Yes, Nomar might be a decent option.Later
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Nomar'd fit right in on our DL.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Pretty good point, of course. Let's hope we'd only get him under some incentive-type dealio.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Branyan could be interesting at this point-- lefty power and a league-average glove. Considering that LaRoche's market had dwindled so much that he ended up inking what he did, Branyan should cost at most half of what they're offering Bengie, and push Myrph into a comfortably Heep-y place.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Delgado to the BJ's according to a report on mlb.com. (per Metsblog)
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Blue Jays say no..Carlos may be lucky to land a job if he can't play 1B or slideMuffy is safe

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2010 Posted February 10, 2010 I've changed my vote from Delgado to Free Agent. lets give Blalock a shot.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Delgado goes under one more time.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Ha. Assuming we're a dog in the hunt by then, and he's 90 percent of what he was at season's start last year, does Delgado make sense as, say, a 750K midseason rental?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 That's certainly an option, but who knows what the situation will be when we reach that bridge. Better best to simply be thankful that they didn't sign him up prematurely.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Is Mike Jacobs a better option than Delgado?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 No. No, he's not.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Yes. Yes, he is.But then, so are you and I.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 What a horrible thing to happen to Delgado. I only wish him the best.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Well if it's July, the surgery goes well, and Murph can't get his OPS north of .775 or so, Carlos might still be worth a call.
