Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 At least that's what I'm seeing on a uniform-themed board I read. I know there was talk about the cream pinstripes. We'll see if one of those vests emerge.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Interesting.Whatever they unveil, though, can't be any worse than what they currently have. (We haven't had that old chestnut here in the forum for a while, so I thought I'd revive it.)
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 i'm not really looking forward to whatever "new age" garbage they've come out with now. i'd like to see 80's style home jerseys (with the stripe on the shoulder) and solid gray road jerseys only.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 You're drunk.Racing stripes are for soccer. And, you know, racing.I don't know what you necessarily mean by "new age" or why you quote it, but the unis with the piping sure fit the bill of yesteryear's new age update to me.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Me, I'd prefer them to go back to the look of the early 1970's, but that's probably just my nostalgia kicking in.If there's less black and more blue, orange, and white I'll be happy. If they introduce some new kind of ugly then I'll be less happy.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 If they introduce some new kind of ugly then I'll be less happy.[/quote:3lqst58p]Odds of them introducing some new kind of ugly = 100%.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I'm actually looking forward to seeing something new: It's been a decade already in the current ensemble and while I'm fully prepared to see some heinous shit walk down the runway, it's not as if they'll be replacing baseball's best look. I hear they might strike the piping around the buttons on the home whites (bfd, might look better) and balance the retro pinstripes with a "modern" alternative. I hope that comes at the expense of the all-black but I dunno. The black sucks obviously but we've all survived it.I only ask that they keep the logo the same -- really hated the early 90s fishtail. I would also hope they kill the 2-tone hats which are ugly and suck.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 80s polyknit? Meh. I have good feelings about these only because of the people in 'em, and what they did while wearing 'em. Going strictly looks-wise, I can definitely leave 'em.In theory, more blue-white-orange makes sense. But I'm getting some flashes in my head of the mostly-blue unis from the survey, and it's roiling my stomach a bit. And the idea of old-school-cream-with-dropshadow sounds aesthetically abhorrent, actually. I'd rather have the black... and I hat the black.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Having four different uniforms sucks, when I think of the Dodgers I see two unis , home and away. This is what the Mets should have.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 November 27 = Black Friday, day after Thanksgiving. Who won't want to rise at 4 A.M. to purchase their brand new Mets uniform top?But will the uniforms be bereft of black that Friday? One assumes, but one also assumes nothing from this organization.Good piece on lousy Mets branding by Hot Foot's Anthony DeRosa in BrandChannel here.
Guest attgig Guests Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 as long as that dominoes pizza patch is gone, i'm sure it'll be an improvement.

Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I'm sorry, but the 80's uniforms were horrendously ugly. There, I said it.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I'm going to be so let-down when they reveal cream jerseys that still have awful black dropshadows. Even though I'm expecting it, I'll be let down.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 I doubt that player input was involved in those feminine-looking Rockies jerseys with the flared shoulders. If the Mets ever adopt something like that, I'm moving to Guam.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Finally, the Mercury Mets will return. Oh how I missed thee.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 what those of you whining about black buttons or trembling with anger over the anticipated creamy drop shadows, or whatever, really need is a decade of Mets unis that are based on the ChiSox wide-lapelled softball jerseys with shorts, using the shitbrown colors of the Padres, with a vintage Houston Astros rainbow across the chest. I say hell yeah, bring on the Mercury Mets!If your gonna play like a laughingstock, then look like one.
Guest The Second Spitter Guests Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 Earlier this year, I narrowly lost out bidding on a Mercury Mets jersey on eBay. In the end, it went for about 140 USD.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Eleven more days until the day we've been anticipating/dreading/indifferent to.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 That fella who made the move to Guam comment should be afraid, very afraid.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I may be the only one here, but I like the current uniforms. Drop shadow and all. I think the home whites are the best, followed by the road grays. I even like the black ones. My one and only complaint is the orange dot on the hat on the blue hat. I hate it with a passion. And I can live without the pinstripes. I didn't like the swoosh or the racing stripes. I will really hate any sort of cream-colored jersey.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I just want to be able to buy MK a personalized jersey that doesn't have the pizza patch on it.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I want 2 versions...road gray, NEW YORK on first..Home pinstripes, no cream, Scripted Mets..Blue button on hatI also want every car on the road to be a Ford Model T-Black only

I wonder if it was planned as a Koufax shrine and a miscommunication gave it the corporate name instead.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 They're still debating whether or not to press charges against Dwight Gooden for the lounge incident.
