Not enthused about many of the teams this year. I do think if the Cardinals win this series they likely win it all. hard to root for them to win it all given their success and 2006, but I also like them as a team that could take down the Phillies or Yankees if either was to advance.

Yanks exit the playoffs early or even get beat by his team in the

I don't have any strong feelings regarding either team so I'm just hoping for a good series.

I do think it would be fun to see Torre's Dodgers sweep the Yankees in the series just to watch Hank's head explode. Of course, a quick exit by the Yankees at the hands of either the Twins or Tigers would accomplish the same thing.

Yes, but let's be honest: St Michael the Archangel could have managed those teams and their record would be have been about the same.

Can't you say that about just about any team, good or bad, throughout baseball's history.

The Mets played over their heads for a decent stretch in 1980. Does Torre deserve credit for that? It's hard to say.

I was only joking about Torre and his culpability for the 1977-81 Metsies.

I'm pretty sure most of the guys who played for Torre on the Mets thought pretty highly of him. He was very respected as a player too. Press liked him, other baseball people obviously did too. He's a HoFer.

Sure, but it's a race the Dodgers tend to win.

Cards get credit for generally keeping the uni count down to two, but one of those two has the blue/black hat and that's wrong.

I'm leaning toward the Dodgers at this moment, although what frequently winds up happening is that I find myself pulling for one side at some point in the series without any conscious moment of when or even why I decided to do so. Sometimes it even changes within a series even if only to root for a longer, more interesting one.

I only have one Must-Not-Win entry in this post-season.
Other than that I just hope to enjoy things and won't otherwise get myself worked up over specific results.

I know he's got a bunch of nominally-qualifying teammates who'll siphon off votes, but even accounting for that, I suspect Matt Kemp will get significantly fewer MVP votes than he deserves.

He's one of the few CFs I'd trade Beltran for, straight-up (at this point in time).

Matt Holliday tries to catch Loney's line drive with his crotch. That had to hurt. Tying run on second with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Casey Blake at the plate for the Dodgers and Juan Pierre pinch running for Loney.

Casey Blake walks and Ronnie Belliard lases a line drive into center scoring the speedy Pierre standing up. Russell Martin up trying to win the game in walk off fashion.

Martin walks to load the bases. Mark Loretta (0-15) against Franklin gets a chance to be a hero.

I guess Matt Holliday should have used his glove on that one. Franklin failed to get anyone out after Holliday's 2 base error.
