Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Your first place Marlins lead Atlanta 3-1 in the fifth, as Cody Ross (who looks 15) has provided all the offense in one swing.Houston trails Pittsburgh 3-2 in the third. Hunter Pence has already bagged his third homer.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 No score in MFY-ville where Johnny Damon, with permission of Derek Jeter, has provided the first hit.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Listening to Sterling and Waldmann talk about the ceremonies was absolutley barfaricious. One line I remember, but am trying to forget, was "Well, the Yankees certainly don't lack legends". (That may be a silght paraphrase.)Then they talked about THE CAPTAIN using one of Babe Ruth's old bats for his warm up swings and then returning it to the Hall of Fame.Ugh!Later

He must have really gotten all of it.

Guest themetfairy Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Thank goodness this is a day game. I was not relishing the thought of taking the train home after tonight's Mets game along with a bunch of drunk MFY fans.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I was on the D train this morning at around 8:30 when what looked like a father and his three grown sons all wearing MFY gear came on, checking out their tickets, etc. They would've gotten there around 9 am. What the heck were they going to do til the stadium opened?
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 True Yankee Jorge Posada ties the game with a solo shot.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 M. Kay is noting every "first" at the new stadium short of first nose-picking in the stands.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Maybe I missed it but was the first game at Citi Field "historic" in the way that this game is been written as?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 metirish wrote:Maybe I missed it but was the first game at Citi Field "historic" in the way that this game is been written as?To Howie & Gary and the audience they're talking to, yes.The problem with the YSIII stuff is the attitude that whatever happens there is historic to not only MFY fans but also to the Stock Exchange, to the guy who runs the McDonalds in Boise, and to starving kids in Biafra.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 9-1 seriously, I just used a racist word when I really meant "Guardians" - courtesy of a Grady Sizemore GS ('mongst other stuff).
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I'm sorry, I meant to say 10-1Life's just so complicated when HRs are flying out of the yard as fast as you can type them.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I guess CC didn't have a good day?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Awesome!CC left in the 6th having throw 100 pitches and walking 5 but just 1 run.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Mostly it was the relievers I believe. And in a nod to the current score, Ronan Tynan is today singing 'Taps' for the 7th inning stretch.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Roman Tynan on in relief.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 The fans will be chanting for Swisher any minute now.Later

I hope Filip Bondy is having a terrible time out in the bleachers....
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 i'm curious what wally's opinion of the place will be
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Did Arlington kinda rip-off the Yankee Stadium facade design? If so, that's kinda funny because a couple times I've thought YS3 looks a little like Arlington.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Are you referring to the cemetery?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 ]... the Fransisco FC is the Miller Lite Turning Point. What happened on that play? All hands safe on sac bunt try.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I was rooting for a Jumping Jeter throw to third arriving too late.
