Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 What kind of world are we living in where someone can smuggle grass into a Phish concert?
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 So... there's this. (Sorry about the lack of pictures-- my Google Image Search for "2/3 of supposed New Yorkers under the age of 45" didn't turn out as I thought it would.)http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/12/sports/baseball/12poll.html?_r=2&ref=sportsPerhaps most disturbing...Over all, the Yankees have more fans than the Mets citywide by a 9-point margin, with 34 percent of New Yorkers in the city supporting the Yankees, 25 percent favoring the Mets, 34 percent saying they do not have an allegiance to either team, and 6 percent considering themselves fans of both teams. Seriously... who are these people?

stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 BTW, all you need to know about my Dad's business partner in terms of his "I like both NY Teams" douche-ness, his thoughts on the Yogi Berra muesuem was that it was "better than Cooperstown."
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 My Dad and his business partner (Title company, real estate law firm) apparantly. Rooting for the "underdog" in a World Series or interleague matchup.[/quote:10jjowjm]Yeek. Japanese don't set aside age-old hurts to root for the Chinese in a World Cup match because "they're the underdog." The Irish don't pull for England in Euro because "well, we're out of it." Michiganders don't pull for Ohio State in the Rose Bowl because "we're all Big Ten." And yes, the Yankees have never gone Cromwell or rape-of-Nanking on Main Street... but, well, ick.To paraphrase Nietzsche... fuck that motherfucking noise in the earhole. Two times.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I can't even discuss this rationally. My head's about to pop, like an engorged tick.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 From the old local paper. They used this for an engagement photo. She's marrying a complete douchebag.http://sungazette.com/photos/news/md/527579_1.jpg

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 On the most recent new episode of "Kids Clubhouse" on SNY, Tim Redding was interviewed. He admitted to liking the Yankees more than the Mets while growing up in Rochester, NY.He did claim that his wearing #44 was as tribute to David Cone, though (one of his two favorite players growing up).
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 They just can't help themselves.Have you heard about the campaign to "save" Gate 2 at MFYs II? They want to save it and make it the entrance to something horribly called Heritage Park .Bronx historian Lloyd Ultan really showed that he is in fact a historian of all things douchebag-y"If you go to Rome, you can get some idea of what the Forum was like from the ruins," said Ultan. "If it's feasible, it's worthy to save that part." FY Loving Douchebags Here

DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 That guy gives historians a bad name. I'll see to it that his credentials are revoked.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I have no problem with Yankee fans who live in the Bronx and care about it.One type of Yankee fansI don't like: Connecticut*-livin', patent-lawyerin', client-entertainin', safe-investin', stock-splittin' roly guys who pick a team that's just another safe investment, because who wants to take the client to a game that the home team loses, and who wants his kid to be wearing the wrong cap on his first day at Choate?*For the purposes of this jerky comment, please consider Larchmont and Mamaroneck to be part of Connecticut.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 What about Pelham Bay which is the Bronx but really more like CT?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Never been, but if you're in the Bronx, what the hey, you're entitled to be a Yankee fan.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 YLDBdom requires no geographic boundaries.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Pelham Bay really IS like CT with the subway in the distance, and fake-Jersey (City Island) just down the Sound coast. And speaking of Jersey... those fans have got to get in your craw, too, no?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Feel free to describe Yankee fans you don't like.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 You see her pixels? They's HUGE!Also, according to online sources, he's San Franciscan by birth and Californian by upbringing.Which marks him as probably my least favorite brand of YLDB: the out-of-towner/new transplant attached to the MFYs for their "winningness" (and/or natty hats-- they go with everything!).
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 I haven't seen the "sex video" but I heard that it features him, his wife, and a prostitute in a bathtub, or hot tub.I can't even imagine how my wife would react if I asked her if she and I would like to videotape ourselves in a bathtub with a hooker.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 At least as poorly as she'd react if she caught you in a Yankee cap, I'd hope.
