metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Thanks for the heads up , I've just been told that we are going to leave for the game early. I'm going with two MFY fans so I'll be sure to take pictures as they wank off near the museum.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 Saw the only living switch-pitcher in baseball live and in person on Monday. Pat Venditte of the Charleston Riverdogs did get into the game vs. the Rome Braves. The bad news - he faced five righthanded batters, so we never got to see him do the switch-pitch thing in the game. It did look pretty cool in the bullpen, though.[/quote:29n410th]Greg Harris is still alive at the present time.[/quote:29n410th]Give him my regards at the next meeting.[/quote:29n410th]Just letting you know you should have said active instead of living.[/quote:29n410th]Thanks so fucking much. Really. I am just so absolutely much fucking smarter than I was before you dug up this little nugget. Mea fucking culpa, Jeets.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Anyone ever do "Mets at the Movies?"Have an unexpectedly free night, and was thinking about swinging by (the Ziegfield is around the corner from LeiterWagnerBetterHalf-er's place of employ).
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Rogers will be there! He told me
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Got my tickets today for June 29th at Milwaukee via TicketCity.com. I'll be at the June 30th game too. Still waffling on the Wednesday afternoon game.Highly doubtful, but if anyone's going to be at Miller Park for these games, let me know and I'll buy you a beer.

Have heard they run it kinda-cheesy though.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Dropped by.Not sure what Rawjuhs looks like, but I just saw someone who looks like what he does in my head, outside taking a picture with Mr. Met.Usually don't catch the pregame. Carlin and Ojeda are making my brain want to eat itself (one with the shouting, the other with Joe Morgan-y jock crap). Is it normally that bad?
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Somewhat off topic, but it just occurred to me that I haven't been to The Ziegfield Theater since Pink Floyd The Wall came out. It was a big deal withthe big screen and cool sound system. Now we all have surround sound in our living rooms lol.

I think Ojeda can get better with time but as an expert you need to do better than pull out the old " gut feeling" when asked if he like Manuel would have pulled the starter .I miss Maz and I can't believe that I do, I guess he wasn't that bad after all.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Heading to Saturday's presumable pitchers' duel. (Sec 525)(Should get a chance to see exactly how the place weathers rain-delays, no?)
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 We're headed to that one with Lunchpail in tow, I hope we get some BB in. Will be in 520 again
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I got an interesting quality single ticket for Sunday's game. Over this yearand next I want to sample Citi Field from different spots until I can say I'vesat everywhere. If we're to believe Joe Weatherspeak, there's gonna be anawful lot of sogginess between game time today and game end tomorrow.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I'll be there tomorrow, in the Mo's Zone (with the Gary, Keith and Ron Foundation peeps).
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 What exactly is The Mo's Zone? I googled a little, no clear explanation.Do you also get seats? Do you need them or you watch from there?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Isn't that the seating area in right field, near the bullpens, beneath the Pepsi Porch, where the outfield fence is a little deeper?
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Yeah, I just thought maybe someone could give a better description of whatall is going on in there. I'm intrigued.

It's kind of cave-like, but considering tomorrow's forecast that may not be a bad thing.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Going to the game tomorrow. What's the earliest I can get in? I want to get there like three hours early and walk around and check everything out.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Will be there for the Thursday matinee, section 521, with Fboy in tow. First trip to Citi Field for either of us.Barring a rainout we'll be seeing Chris Carpenter v. Johan Santana. Probably the two best pitchers in the National League this season going head to head.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Elster - the Jackie Robinson Rotunda opens two and a half hours before game time.Fman - I'll be in the Left Field Landing on Thursday with MK.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Nice Metfairy thanks. So that's the earliest I can get in? Sounds good should be plenty of time to check everything out.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 That's the earliest you can get in. And it should give you enough time to get a feel for the place. If your heart is set on the Shake Shack, go right there as soon as you get in. The lines for that concession are insane. If you don't care about that particular concession, then the lines should be fairly reasonable. One note - regular concession stands sell Carvel, so don't stand in a long line at the Carvel concession unnecessarily.Make sure you visit the Bullpen Gate area (there are stairwells on either side of the bridge in the outfield) so you can take pix with the old Home Run Apple from Shea.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I'll be there tonight, with Vic jr. We'll try to avoid our crappy seats in LF upper deck for as long as possible. We'll try and stake out seats in the CF bleachers, near the concessions. He's looking forward to seeing Pujols, who is carrying my son's fantasy team to a 35 point lead.

Guest Kong76 Guests Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Time flies. There will be some kind of tailgate developing around 10 o'clockon Sun 7/12 for the 1:10 Reds game. I know some posters will be there, let'semail, PM, or whatever and share some ideas and make sure we have a fewcell phone numbers.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Sorry to be missing that one. I'll be taking my grandkids to see the B-Mets play at New Britain that afternoon.Later
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 My friend and I will be there and I hope to tailgate and see a large contingent from the CPF membership. Just let us know where to show up and we'll be there.I still have KC's cell phone number from last year, assuming it hasn't changed since then.
