The last twenty minutes of Lethal Weapon was insane. They almost had a movie there, then everything got stupid.

I don't want to talk about any time I've wasted in hotel rooms staring at the sequels, but I do tip my hat to Richard Donner for giving Darlene Love work.

Funny Richard Donner trivia: One of the live-action serials on The Banana Splits Show was called "Danger Island," which you may remember, if you watched the Splits, for it's ridiculously fast editing.

"What's this?"

"A message!"

"We've got to get to the other side of the island!"

(Cut to other side of island.)

"What's that?"

"A boat!"

"We've got to get into the hold!"

(Cut to hold of boat.)

"What's that?"

...

Anyhow, "Danger Island" was directed by Richard F. Donner.

The use of Poltergeist in the new Direct TV ad is extra creepy because the cute little girl is dead. I don't like scary movies but I voted against Mel Gibson.

The sassy older girl is dead also. They'd have done well to shelve the franchise after this film.

That, of course, is true of three quarters of our contestants.

The guy who peeled his face off in the bathroom scared the bejeezus out of me. I was 9 years old.

Another no-brainer. Most of these first rounders are just that.

As between these two, I'm going with Poltergeist.

She was the daughter of Dominick Dunne. Dunne has written extensively about how lightly the legal system treated his daughter's murderer (an abusive boyfriend).

The first woman I was ever attracted to was JoBeth Williams in Poltergeist.
Strangely, she does nothing for me now.

The second woman on my list didn't really hold up well, either:

JoBeth Williams showed up last season on Dexter.

When?

I watch Dexter and I have absolutely no memory of that.

Her career started late, so she skipped the whole "young hottie" phase and went straight to playing MILFs, from her naked big-screen debut in KRAMER V KRAMER, to POLTERGEIST, to BIG CHILL. When she aged out of that, she was stuck with TV movies and guest appearances.

I remember JoBeth Williams back from Somerset.

I used to watch a lot of soaps....

I was kinda into the Mom too. I liked how the ghosts threw her onto the wall and ceiling.

Lethal Weapon was fun but I can't help but dock it points for creating the whole "buddy movie" genre.

The Ghost in you, she don't fade: 16-10 is your final.
