Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 I liked both of these, but memories of Tootsie, for whatever reason, have stuck with me more. So I voted for Tootsie.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Tootsie is a great film with a wonderful cast. The conversations between Dustin Hoffman and Sydney Pollack are priceless, and Bill Murray was incredible as the roommate. I love this film, and vote for it without hesitation.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Yep. Same here.Hot 80's Teri Garr, I mean Tootsie, gets my vote.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 I had a huge crush on Jessica Lange at the time Tootsie came out.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Yup.Bill Murray, Terri Garr, Jessica Lange.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Colin Powell endorsed Tootsie's candidacy this weekend, saying that Tootsie can be a "transformational figure."
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Liked both films. But I can watch BHC over again. Can't say the same for Tootsie.Later
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 This is closer than what the comments here would indicate. I like BHC a lot, so I went with it.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Went with BHC. If I wanted to see a short guy dress up as a girl I could look in a mirror.(did I type that or just thnk it?)
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 I loved BHC , I didn't know Murphy from SNL as I never saw that show growing up , just loved his character and attitude , now it would no doubt annoy me.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Beverly Hills Cop is just a delivery system for Eddie Murphy's schtick. Look at the depth of encouraging supporting performances and Tootsie cleans the floor with Axel.I'd even go with "It Might Be You" over "Axel F.'s Theme" ona desert island.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Tootsie and it ain't even close.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 BHC is the second movie in these polls that featured John Ashton (Midnight Run was the other).
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Some Kind of Wonderful still to come.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Two very different, yet enjoyable movies. I haven't seen Tootie in 15-20 years, but I have seen Beverly Hills Cop a few times over the years. In a close decision, I gave my vote to Beverly Hills Cop, probably more out of familiarity than anything else.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 BHC sucks BHMC.it's "product".TOOTSIE is an actual movie... A funny, touching, wonderfully crafted movie.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Wow, a tie. Someone needs to get in here and break this thing one way or another.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I think both movies should have to write a song about Bud Harrelson.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I think I put a 1-day time limit on this poll too. If that means 24 hours, that would be in a little more than an hour, I think.Vote!
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 An 8 -v- a 9 tied and going into OT!Well seeded!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I thought about breaking this tie by sending it to the Board of Elders.Reviews from Roger Ebert, Filmcritic.com, and Reel.com, with the film with the preponderance of higher scores declared the winner:Tootsie:Ebert 4/5Film Critic 4/5Reel.com 3.5/4BHC:Ebert 2.5/5Filmcritic 4/5Reel.com 3/4This gives TOOTSIE the win.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Good idea for the tie-breaker.I was going to suggest asking Hal the Referee, but he's dead at the present time.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Somewhere out there there's a CPF tiebreaking voter.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I think the poll has expired though.I'm declaring this an overtime victory for Tootsie, 16-15
