Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Samatha Baker Division, Fort Arnold regionals:(6) Ricky Business(11) An American Werewolf in London
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Risky Business: oh, that train scene.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 No passion for either here. But I wonder how many of these films Curtis Armstrong is going to end up in.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I liked both of these films. American Warewolf scared the hell out of me. But Risky Business is iconic - I had to go for that.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 2 good pics, but i went with RISKY BUSINESS. The great Tangerine Dream score, and its the GRADUATE of its generation. Established Cruise as a star. It's smarter than it pretends to be, which is consistent with its general theme of cynicism. WEREWOLF is a solid blend of horror and comedy, which is hard to pull off. But it's failure is inherent in the werwolf genre... the hero is doomed. So you've got to make his ultimate demise meaningful, in some way, in order to justify the tragedy. But it wasn't. He just gets shot after going on a rampage. Also, the failure to include the Zevon song is fatal.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Watching the Werewolf trailer reminded me how badly I wanted to be sent to a hospital in London. I think that flick was pretty brilliant. Scary and funny: Hard to beat.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Jenny Agutter was way hot. Did you ever see WALKABOUT?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I also voted for the werewolf.
Guest Vince Coleman Firecracker Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I voted for Werewolf while drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's.Oh, and my hair was perfect.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 i think i've seen risky business, and i'm pretty sure i haven't seen werewolf, no no vote for me here...
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Well, hopefully this exercise leads us to catch up on some viewing.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 i should update my netflix...but tehn i've gotta watch daylight first for that to matter.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I'm a werewolf guy. Interpret that as you like.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 ALways couldn't stand what's his snooty face. Tom Cruise.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 What's His Snooty Face just pulled into the lead.
Guest cooby Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 What's his Snooty Face probably logged on and voted for himself.Take that Tom Cruise! Here's a woman that doesn't droll over you! H A!
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I used to think he had a great smile. Now he's just creepy.
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I loved both movies, but as Fairy said, Risky Business is iconic, and that does it for me.

Guest cooby Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 please, the thought of that movie is enough to make me sick again

Farrah's butt was probably just fine.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 The film is about priveleged college brats slumming in Europe though, at some level --- one of your horror-as-metaphor thingies --- isn't it? Something about their inability to survive even the slightest of cutural shifts without contracting lycanthropy.Oh sure, you thought you could go to Europe and fuck around and meet an open-minded nurse, but you fucked up and your parents can't help you, you stupid shit. Hey, that kind of likens it to Zevon's "Lawyers, Guns, and Money."Anyhow, the soundtrack was fun anyway.I rank the early eighties werewolf movies: 1) An American Werewolf in London2) The Howling3) Teen-Wolf4) A Company of Wolves5) Wolfen

That was an odd little flick.
