  • Oliver Perez spiking his hair into a center spine. That sort of thing may make you a celebrity in St. Louis but we just want business.

  • The kid from Bellmore sitting next to me in the bar talking shit to Brewers fans. Asking to get a comeuppance right there.

  • C.C. Sabathia pitching for the Brewers.

  • Bellmore kids plannng offseason moves to nab Sabathia and K-Rod. Shut the fuck up and stick to the massively important business at hand.
Gotta hand it to the Brew Crew for (1) having the stones to pitch their maniacallly successful lefthander on three days rest for the last month (wish we did), and (2) inventing the relief manager.

A kid came over to watch the game with us. A kid with whom we've never experienced a win.

I said so at the time -- I told my wife it reminded me too much of the other catch. I didn't like it at all. I also commented that I hoped that maybe they'd been given another shot, a chance to exorcise the Yadier Molina demon.

I found myself wondering who was going to be this year's Yadier Molina.

Answer: Wes Helms AND Dan Uggla.

Remember that hunch I had back in June that Delgado was going to hit a homer at Yankee Stadium? I had a similar "psychic" feeling yesterday. When I saw Schoeneweis take the mound, I just "knew" that the Marlins would end up scoring the winning run that inning.

I think we all knew that.

Schoenweis came in I turned to my brother-in-law and said 'not a good move'.

Wes Helms walked up to the plate - I looked at the scoreboard, saw that he had 4 homers, turned to D-Dad, and said, "this pitch ends up in the bullpen". I wasn't off by much.

Not much to tell really. My kids and I have small an undefeated streak at Shea over the past couple years except when we attend games with this kid, when the Mets inevitably lose.

"Hey Dad, can Evan come over and watch the game with us?"

"I don't see......why..........not........(oh........shit)"

Not an investment banker. Not even close, we're talking a family of librarians here. He's also a really nice kid. Not enough data to draw from to label him bad luck, but the pit of my stomach said otherwise.

Edgy proclaiming a few weeks ago that Willets would be back for the playoffs...A Bad Omen I thought at the time.
