Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 First of a three-game set starts tonight in Philly with JA Happ vs Jair JurrgensThis is a return matchup from last week's game when Happ, making his first ML appearence in 2 months, out-pitched Jurrgens by tossing 6 innings of 3-hit, shutout ball while the Phils were reaching Jurrgens for 4 runs on 5 hits + 5 walks in 5 innings.Milwaukee is off today, awaiting a 3-game visit from Pittsburgh.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 A minor help, but Florida lost this afternoon.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Score is 2-2 in the sixth.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 It really doesn't matter. The Phillies losing games only helps if the Mets actually win some games, which appears increasingly less likely with each successive game. We can't expect the rest of the NL to win a playoff berth for the Mets.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 Jo-Jo Reyes - who hasn't won in many many weeks and is 0-2 vs the Phils this seasonvsCole Hamels - who's only loss in his last 7 starts was the one to us, and is 4-0 vs the Braves this seasonUghPirates @ BrewersMilwaukee is 9-1 for the season series, including 6-0 in an 8-day span in late August.Pitt = Jeff Karstens - part of the Xavier Nady deal from the Yanx - has lost his last 6 starts after almost tossing a no-no soon after the trade. He also lost to Milw on 8/31vsMilw = Dave Bush - 9-10 overall, 2-1 vs Pitt. We smacked him for 6 runs over 5 IP on 9/3
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 At the moment:Mets 3, Cubs 2.Braves 3, Phillies 2.Pirates 3, Brewers 2.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Phillies really ran themselves out of that one. A triple and double to start the inning, then Burrell gets thrown out at third on a ground ball, and Victorino caught stealing second trying to make up for it.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 btw, it was Hampton starting tonight for the Braves, not Jo-Jo.I was passing along bad information.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 Also Florida losing and Houston losing
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 In Philadelphia, the Braves lead 3-2 heading to the bottom of the 9th. Victorino, Feliz, and Ruiz due up for the Phillies. Mike Gonzalez will look to finish the game off for the Braves.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Ruiz grounds into a game ending double play and the Brave hang on to defeat the Phillies.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 4-3 Brewers in Milwaukee in the 7th.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Our good friend Guillermo Mota gives up a 2-run dinger to give Pittsburgh a 5-4 lead in the 8th.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Lots of ex-Mets involved with the 2008 club's fate tonight.Mike Cameron puts the Brewers ahead with a 2 run double before Mota gives the lead back on a 2 run HR. Mientkewicz worked a walk to be the tying run on that 2 run HR.Hampton for ATL as well.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Prince Fielder with the walkoff, Brewers win.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Anyone know Sheets's status?I see CC is going tonight on 3 days rest again, setting it up so he can do it again on Sunday, or pitch the one-game playoff on Monday. ESPN has Sheets as the probable starter on Friday, but I heard nothing anywhere else about his health.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Per Rotoworld:According to manager Dale Sveum, Ben Sheets (elbow) is unlikely to be available before Saturday. Sheets played catch Tuesday and reported no problems. "He said it felt better than he thought it would," Sveum said. "Theres some optimism there that he might be able to do something over the weekend."
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2008 Author Posted September 24, 2008 Tonight it's Jo-Jo Reyes for the Braves (I know I said that last night too)vs Brett Myers - loser of 2 of his last 3In Milwaukee it's Paul Maholm vs Sabathia - who is starting on short rest for the 2nd straight time and suddenly hasn't won in 5 starts
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Braves up 1-0, first and third with no out.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 2-0, first and third with one out.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Braves and Phillies tied at 3 through 4 innings.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Braves score a run retake the lead in the top of the 5th. Myers is knocked out of the game and the Bracves are still threatening with runners at first and second and Infante at the plate with one out. An extrabase hit from Infante would be sweet.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Throwing error gets another run home. First and second one out.
