A Boston win and a MFY loss. That would eliminate the MFYs from the playoffs in their final appearance at the over-glorified concrete monstrosity.

Let me put icing on that cake for you.
... And the winning run is scored on an error by Jeter, making Rivera the losing pitcher.

I don't know what's getting more press this week, the end of the Stadium or how great Jeter is. I swear, if someone had a picture of Jeter machinegunning a litter of puppies, some of the sportswriters in town would write that the puppies probably had a terrible disease and Derek was putting them out of their misery.

Brilliant!

Except that it has to happen in a downpour!

Didn't Jeter get hurt in his last AB today...be funny if he couldn't play.

He'll play.

After all, he's "The Captain".

Get out the barf bags, Martha. I think I'm gonna' hurl.

Well Boston's doing their part, up 3-0 in the 7th against Toronto.

btw, if anyone gets tired of watching the Mets game, or the golf, or the football, or the REdSox game (TBS) - you can always switch over to ESPN which is in the midst of what I think is a 75 hour pre-game show leading into tonight's game featuring the history of Yanqui Stadium (both I and II)

Excellent. I didn't like what I had for lunch today anyway.

What do they think this game is? The freaking Super Bowl?

I don't know where this goes, so I'll stick it here. All barfing aside, that was a really nice ceremony they had tonight.

I only picked it up halfway through, but the best moments were Yogi, Bobby Murcer's family (I teared up watching his daughter tear up), and the return of Bernie Williams, who even acknowledged the Creatures.

Wasn't able to watch until now -- don't get ESPN2 downstairs -- but just the ESPN intro was a gagfest. Morgan is going to be more insufferable than normal.

Fuck that - I'm watching the Emmy Awards.

Gammons: Even though it was torn down, it retained its presence.

Huh?

They did a very creepy thing at first. They had Stadium personnel come out as "ghosts" of the original lineup in 1923, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Gomez, McCarthy and Stengel. It made me worried when they started an intro to Phil Rizzuto, but thankfully it was Phil's widow being trotted out.

Yogi and Whitey in the booth, and Miller and Morgan are so excited they can barely keep their pants on.

Yogi's been an old man my entire life -- it's honestly hard to think of him as a top athlete.

2-0 thanks to a Melvin Mora RBI single.

Tied!

Yogi and Whitey were intersting. Morgan needed to remember they were the ones being interviewed.

Reggie will be insufferable.
