Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 True dat!We took the kids to Fireworks Night in Cleveland in 1995. That one went 14 (they even had a 14th inning stretch).

Guest sharpie Guests Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Isn't this the first Met win when they've scored 2 or fewer in like a year?

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Woulda liked the offense to show up today, but it was Cook, who's a pretty good pitcher.Liked to see Jerry playing for the win with Evans pinch running, but if he wanted to bunt there anyway, why not Santana instead of burning Argenis Reyes?Fun times are back at Shea.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Second time that Easley shocked the Rockies with a late-inning HR to spoil a strong effort by Cook, btw.

You want to bunt? Leave Lefty in there, or send out another starting pitcher. He does it all the time and he knows how to do it at least as well as Sluggo on the bench. Yeah, you lose the element of surprise, but how much is that worth after the first pitch when Sluggo squares as soon as the pitcher comes to astop.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 The biggest obvious difference between this game and any one of a number ofgames earlier in this season is that this time they GOT the third out (on several occasions) instead of almost getting out of the inning as was all too common.I'd bet that our 2-out runs-allowed pct is falling back towards normal levels. When I checked a few weeks back it was by far the highest in the league.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Was in attendance for this one. Good, tight, tense game. Fun one to be at.I'm now 2-5 after starting the season 0-4.
