TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Every time Carlos B. takes a called third strike it takes me back to that rainy night in 2006.Swing the damn bat, man.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Old fashioned pitcher's duel tonight.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Look at Keef's old man glasses.Ms. Wolf: "He looks more like a librarian than I do."
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Just throw some fucking strikes Johan!
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 POURING rain with 2 outs in the top of the 4th. The umps letting them play for the out to make it official.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 And it's time for Rain Delay Theater.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 That rain already cleared outta here, could be a shortie?

And Randy Winn did Santana a huge favor by swinging at the first pitch.

soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 And while I'm here - Gary, Keith, Ron - regarding the lower number of complete games, pitches, innings etc. - Pitchers make LOTS of money these days, the people that pay them would rather they last longer. That's pretty much it.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Moms use language too The tarp is coming off the field.Nice rain delay killing by Gary, Keith and Ron. Most announcing crews wouldn't be able to handle this kind of thing in such an instructive way.

The Freak threw a yakker that dropped from the letters to the cup that 'Los waited on perfectly to rip out. It really went a long way in exorcising that particular ghost for me. In my notion of him, he usually fights the breaking pitch off (at best) to look for the fastball. He was all over it like a seagull on sick mollusk. Edited July 9, 2008 by Guest
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 You're totally right and I actually thought about that yesterday when he hit that ding-dong.You know though, that K in '06 was so devastating that I still see it everytime he goes down looking.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 a yankee fan i know was Carlos Beltran for Halloween in '06, he wore the jersey and a whiffleball bat... which was taped to his shoulder.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 And we're back after a 42 minute rain delay.

The team lost that game, not Carlos. Yankee-fan-Nymr-knows can stick it.You know, I was the Yankees for that same Halloween party. I didn't even get invited to the party.Get it?

I'm not meaning to say he watches a lot of great pitches fly by him. It's just when he does, that memory makes me want to puke.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Not a great sign that Johan didn't come back out after the short-ish rain delay.Either he's hurt which certainly isn't good. Or he asked out which isn't great either.Or mgmt is being overly protective of him on a night with a short turn-around which I don't love either.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 The table is set for Mr. Wright in the 7th. Come on, we need some insurance runs.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 hey, just getting here. Did they say why Santana didn't come back? I'm guessing it was because of the rain?
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Wright grounds out to third without advancing the runners. Intentional pass to Beltran to load the bases with two outs. Bochy will take his chances with the red hot Easley.Burn him Damion.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Easley chooses a bad time to emulate Wright as he grounds to third to end the inning.

Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted July 9, 2008 Posted July 9, 2008 Cardinals just scored two to tie the Phillies! This could be a very good night.
