Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 By the way, I'm sure my memory is failing me, but I can't recall Ron or Gary mentioning Willie's name this evening once, nor any shots that the director has cut to.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 AG/DC - Gilbert asks: The last time the Rangers played at Shea (July, 1975), they had a complete game shutout. Who was the pitcher? I wanted to guess Nolan Rayan, but I think he may have still been with the California/Anaheim/Los Angeles/ whatever Angels, so i'll guess Fergie Jenkins. You can't go wrong with a Hall of Famer, can you?
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Rangers' Chris Shelton looks like an adult version of Malachai from "Children of the Corn." Which is not a good look.

Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Six-run lead = not enough to satisfy my demands.Rockin' Doc = drunk, but correct

Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Finally, a shot of Willie, smiling with Peterson, presumably about Perez.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Ag/Dc - Six-run lead = not enough to satisfy my demands. Rockin' Doc = drunk, but correctI'm not drunk, but I'm working on it. 7th inning - Saranac Black Forest
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Who pitches the ninth? I guess it's Sanchez' turn.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Perez with 7 strong innings and 2 rbi to help his cause, can the shitpen hold it?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 Sounds like R-Doc picked up a Saranac variety 12-packs whilst he was up north.6 run lead heading for the 9th ... the Rangers got us just where they want us.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 It's the 9th inning. They have us where they want us....
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 8th inning - Saranac Black and Tan - Just a Saranac variety 6 pack at the local Harris Teeter grocery store on the way home from work.9th inning - Newcastle Brown Ale - A victory celebration beer. Please let that be the case. We can't possibly blow this one, can we?
Guest KC Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Old dive bar song from upstate ...With a knick knackSaranacGive the dog your boneUh never mind, can't finish it ....
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Duaner gets his ERA down to 5.06.Hopefully, it's one the pen can build on.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I'm glad to have done my part for the good of the team, but they must learn to win on their own because I can't do this every game. Okay, that's one win. Now all we need is four or five more to get this team on track and to change my crappy outlook.Yay Mets! Yay, beer!!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I figured that tonight the trick is to think about what it was like to go to the game in the early 90s and early '00s, and hope for something well-pitched and a good game, without worrying about where you were in the standings, because, well, you weren't anywhere worth being concerned about. And in that regard, was a fun game. Sedate crowd, would've expected more booing but I guess a solid outing by the good Oliver Perez does that.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 As much as they make me want to go the games with a gun, I was very impressed with how they determinedly ground out those runs in the first inning. That's twice in the last few days where Beltran got a 2-out RBI single, then came around to score himself. That's hard to do.I'm more impressed with Rockindoc's drinking, but still.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I still think any secondbaseman in the NL East --- ok, maybe not Uggla --- gobbles that single up.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I just reviewed that, and I'm thinking of another single. Beltran's hit was solid.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Yeah but they didn;t. Most teams wouldn't have played infield in before them to snare Wright's liner. It all comes out in the wash.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Great IGT. I checked here before a box score. I've never done that before.Glad for Rockin' Doc this one didn't go extras. Cheers, boys. And girls.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Seo - "Glad for Rockin' Doc this one didn't go extras."That makes two of us. Last night's beer an inning was an act of stupid, desperation that will not be done a second time. Last night was the best night of sleep I have had in a while. Morning after, I'm back to the same old grind, coffee. With coffee in hand, I'm ready to take on the day.

I have decided to drink a different beer for each inning of this game in hopes that it will shake the Mets from their funk. If not, I figure I won't be as upset at the end of the game. Thus far my experiment has gone as follows:1st inning - Tecate2nd inning - Miller Lite (i know it hardly ranks as a beer, but i need 9)3rd inning - Saranac India Pale Ale 4th inning - Saranac Pale Ale5th inning - Saranac Adirondack LagerLet it not be said that I was not willing to do my part for the tweams cause.Geez, and I was just gonna wear my lucky Bernie Williams shirt. Rockin Doc you are a REAL fan.I know, I know, anything for the tweam.(nice job of typing; I've seen you at your worst and it's pretty hilarious)

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 cooby, Harris Teeter is an upscale grocery chain in the southeast. Nice, clean, well stocked stores. As for my typing, well I did have to type extra slow (even by my standards) the last 2-3 innings. All in all, I held together in pretty good shape through the game, it was afterwards when the alcohol started to hit me. I just went upstairs, went to bed and got a great night of sleep. You can wear the Bernie Williams shirt for luck in today's game. I'm going to be a slacker and simply cheer for the team like any sane fan would.
