bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I'm back from a funeral, pumped up for some Mets baseball, and they're losing. Plus, Joe Buck is behind the mike and he really doesn't care about regular season baseball. He is more concerned with cracking wise and sounding clever. And now, the Mets are in a little box while we hear the awful Thom Brenmaman call an endless AB from Ken Griffey.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 Really, does Buck specifically, or FOX in general, give a crap about this game? Mariah Carey's shoes, Ken Rosenthal throwing out the first ball, etc., this is just FOX's fulfilling an obligation for a GOW so they can show the WS.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 While I'm talking to myself: I'm sick of Pelfrey. We're not the Royals so we have endless time to wait. He's had more than enough time to prove himself and he can't get it done. And Nick Evans was a great story... but it's time for him to go back to Binghamton.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE SAID.... I TURNED THE SOUND DOWN SO I DIDNT HAVE TO HEAR BUCK AND MCCARVER AND PELFREY CANT GET IT DONE. I ALSO THINK THAT THE METS NEED TO EITHER MAKE A TRADE OR GRAB A FA OUTFIELDER.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 After the announcers ragged on him for not bunting right.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Quiet day in the IGT with much of the CPF'ers in attendance today.I agree - send Pelf back to AAA and let Vargas hold that 5th spot. One wins and one doesn't. Seems like a no brainer to me.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 whiff whiff popup to the 7th...cmon Mets
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I'm just tuning in, but it looks like Pelfrey has been pitching quite well. He's in the 7th and has only allowed two runs.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 Pinch-runner for Casanova, perhaps?
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 I think Pelfrey has a spot on the big-league team...but I'd rather he start in NO than be in our bullpen. But he should be in our rotation over Vargas, in my opinion.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 PUT IT IN THE BOOKS!!! NICE WIN FOR THE CRANEPOOLERS MEETING AT THE STADIUM.... I WILL BE THERE TOMORROW FOR 2008 METS FANTASY CAMP REUNION... I GET TO PLAY AT SHEA ON MONDAY
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2008 Author Posted May 31, 2008 Great win! Takes some of the sadness off the funeral I mentioned earlier. We look forward to hearing about the reunion, Mario!
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Thanks for spurring Big Pelf on, bmfc1. He needed all the help he could get.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 All-star cast from your Crane Pool Forum in attendance today. Was very nice to see and/or meet all of you.I too woulda put in a pinch runner for Casanova in the 7th (I was thinking either Maine or Santana). Glad to see Willie decide to do one in the 8th though.Glad to see us finally get Broxton. I don't think we've ever had any success off Broxton (or Saito) -- very satisfying.
Guest KC Guests Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 It was nice to get so many together at once. I'm losing my voice, fun game.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Good to renew old acquaintances (Kase & KB, JD, StevieJeets), and meet some new folks (Gwreck, Mendoza, Edgy, Doc & friend, sharpie & Lenny, Chicken, et al). Edgy, sorry I didn't get a chance to get down to chat with you... and sorry to everyone that we kinda vanished in the fourth inning. When you're with a two-year-old, and your seats are six miles above sea level, it's hard to get up and down from there. MiniWolf just needed to move around, so we went down to the team store for a bit on field level, where we saw Mr. Met (thrilling!). We bounced back up a level and watched a half-inning, but we were out of there at back to the car by the seventh, and listened to the comeback on the LIE.
Guest Mendoza Line Guests Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Fine get-together. Fine game. Only regret was that I'd bought tickets on my own and was nowhere near the group.Good to meet some of the people behind the posts.Special thanks to Gwreck's SO for wearing the official shirt so I could figure out where the CPF was meeting even without a working cell phone, to Mrs. KC and Sharpie for lending me their cell phones, and to KC for explaining TITTS to me (we relative newbies aren't all that well-versed in the facts of life). And, of course, to KC for organizing the whole thing.By the way, my cell phone miraculously came back to life sometime in the eighth inning. Sort of like the Mets' bats. What I liked most about the game (other than the comeback, of course) was Pelfrey keeping the Mets close when he didn't have his best stuff. Yeah, he was facing a weak lineup, but still...What I liked least about the game was David Wright first-pitch swinging and grounding out to leave runners on 1st and 3rd in the fifth. That's gonna cost him some beer.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Great game for you guys to be at , is Nick Evens as slow in person rounding third as he looked on TV?.
