IGT, Game 12, vs. DC: You CAN Have It All

Sorry, I've let other starters initiate the thread on the last two games, and allowed the MoJo to grow soiled and noxious.

Tonight we take on the Washington Nationals, trying to turn things around, having opened the season with a three-game sweep before losing nine in a row, then holding on for a 5-4 win over the Braves on Sunday.

We have Pelfrey, looking good his last time out. They've got Odalis Perez, who hasn't looked good much since 2002.

You can't tell the players without a scorecard, and, even then, it's kind of hard when everybody wears 42.

From Adam Rubin's Blog:

Reyes batting leadoff
Church batting second
Castillo batting eighth

Duaner activated off the DL (Muniz to AAA)

LoDuca not starting tonight for the Nationals (was hit in the hand with a pitch on Sunday).

I like this.

I'd like it even more if Castillo was batting 8th...for New Orleans.

He's still honest:
PLD in The Washington Post National's Blog:

Lo Duca said he isn't exactly rooting for the Mets. "I want them to lose every game," he said. "That's nature."

Does he also root for the Marlins and Dodgers to lose or just the Mets?

Why are some numbering the IGTs? Game 12 means nothing to me nor will
game 43 or game 76 if I'd ever want to go back and look at one for some-
thing for a specific date.

put the DATE in the title imo.

i like church 2nd/castillo 8th alot.

Schneider guns down the guy he was traded for trying to steal 3rd base

Castillo to the 8 hole...maybe he will hit his way back up in the lineup

They had Rachel Robinson in the booth for hte bottom of the 2nd, that had to be the worst job of calling the game while interviewing someone that i've ever heard in the regular season (i've heard worse in spring training i think.) i don't even know how castillo got out and they didn't say anything about pelfrey other than to declare him out once the AB was over.
bad bad bad job by the wfan crew there, have the guest stay a full inning so you don't have to ruin the game to talk to them

Schnieder guns out a runner at 2nd on a bunt!

this guy's D has been very impressive.

Met fans don't seem to know what to think about Milledge.
- they complained that he wasn't brought up quickly enough even though he was the youngest position player in the majors at the time
- then they bitched, moaned and called him over-hyped when he didn't set the world on fire immediately
- then complained when he was dealt away for two starting players
- and are now booing the crap out of him as he returns as a opposition player

Good thing we got that call at 2nd or this inning would be in bigger trouble than it already is

Big strikeout of Nick johnson with the bases jammed...BIG PELF

Geez, if you're gonna bunt you might as well leave Castillo up in the 2 slot.

Church may have done that on his own but I don't like it either way

Let's not let 'em off the hook so easy. Church could've homered, or at least singled him in. And then, at least one more batter would've come to bat on top of that.

I'll give Willie this, though. With Reyes on second and nobody out, the sac bunt eliminated the risk of that 4-5-4-6-4-6-3 double play where Reyes gets caught in a rundown and the batter is doubled up going to second. Happens all the time whenever Reyes leads off the inning and winds up on second before an out is ever made. With Reyes on second and nobody out, all I see is a double play threat. Plus, under the right conditions Reyes could score from second without the ball ever leaving the infield.

Randolph obviously prefers one run innings over the big 4-5 run knockout punch innings. And if he says otherwise, we'll he doesn't play it that way.

As a Mets fan I'm glad the Nats are walking Castillo to get to Pelfrey, now we've cleared the pitcher for next inning (barring a pickoff.) As a pitcher you've got to be more agressive there and get Castillo so that you can face Pelfrey to start the next inning.

thats true, he was on wfan before the game wailing about the mets inability to add the knockout blow when they are winning, well, bunting will do that to you.
