According to p. 447 of this year's Media Guide, Irish is correct. Piazza tops the list of Mets Grand Slams with 6. Behind him with 5 apiece are HoJo, Kevin McReynolds, John Milner and Robin Ventura.

I've read that its both easier and harder to hit with the sacks drunk.

Easier because the pressure is on the pitcher to throw strikes. Harder because the batter tends to press to get the big hit.

According to P. 303 of said Media Guide, Mr. Wright has 4 Grand Slams (the most recent on August 20, 2006 off of Josh Fogg at Colorado).

statistics suggest it is easier, likely because of the 'must throw a strike' thing. but this of course doesnt account for the increased likelihood that when the bases are loaded you are facing a pitcher who is tired or at least at the moment ineffective.

commentary that is in fact inaccurate? the league has a higher avg/obp/slg with the bases loaded.

Oh, I agree. That's why Bobby Valentine has to take some heat for Kenny Rogers '99. It wasn't Rogers' decision to intentionally walk the two previous batters.

I was hoping Fran would pay us a visit but I suppose he's busy polishing his Hall Of fame shows , I think Fran's exact words were that a players nervous system gets activated and that gets them all flustered, at least the ones that didn't relish it.
