Inspired by the Knights Who Say Niese, and fierce boredom.

Pick a Met starting pitcher from the past, imagine a supportive group of fans who would come out and support him each start with enthusiasm and theatricality, but perhaps little dignity, a la The Wolf Pack.

Who is your starter?

What would the group call themselves?

How would they present themselves (photos please) on game day?

For example, opening day, 1962 might have brought out Roger Craig's own supporters, the CraigLegs.

"We get a kick out of Roger!" the placards would read, as they threw up a semi-coordinated kickline for each too-rare strikeout.

The Uncle Tom Glavines are always impeccably dressed, well-spoken and conservative in their politics. They oppose affirmative action, play golf at the country club and listen to Barry Manilow. When they're not at their summer homes in the Cape, they gather at Shea to support their man Tom Glavine. When Glavine paints the corner, they clap appropriately, being careful not to disturb others around them or ruin their manicures.

The Schoeneweis Owls disbanded shortly into the 2007 season but a new chapter -- the Wise Owls -- is said to be seeking members.

I would've liked to have sat in the upper deck as a member of Seaver's Beavers.

Aside from chewing up hitters, the sexual innuendo inherent in this nickname puts it right off the top of the chart.

Honorable mention to Anthony Young and the AY KY's. Lubricant = funny.

A lot of options for Seaver's Bevears

This thread has me remembering the summers of '77-'78.

My friends and I in the upper deck in right field dressed in our costumes cheering on our favorite Dominican righthander, Nino Espinosa.

We didn't need one since everyone knew us, but once we unfurled our banner there was no mistaking that we were...

Nino's Nios!

I think I have a picture of me at one his games somewhere...Oh, here's one:

Ever since Jose Reyes posed in GQ he has an avid following at Shea. Look for the " Reyes Triplets" at Shea this season.

This is Pedro's Posse. They congregate in the the picnic area for each game that Pedro Martinez starts at Shea. This group nearly disbanded last season, but they are anxiously look forward to hanging with their man this season. The Posse has lobbied (in vain to this point) for a "jungle gym" to be installed at Citi Field, since they currently lack something to climb on when Pedro is preoccupied on the mound.

Mike's Mouthguards always show up at Shea every time that Pelfrey pitches -

Sidd's Finches lined up for tickets on opening day, but never really had a chance to catch on.

That is hysterical and disturbing all at once. Nicely played.

This chap will no doubt be back at Shea to cheer for Lastings Milledge, not at all happy that he got traded.

="metirish"]Nights at Shea when Oliver Perez pitches will never be the same.

Yes, but your group is getting competition from the Perez Pinatas -

But if Valentine went to the righthander, it was the Young Turks who stood to cheer.

Never mind - I found a swan photo, but its permissions won't let me post it. Just as well - Edgy's is better.
