nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 sweet! here we go...(the last picture is Shawn Estes, i couldnt find one where his name was clearly visible that was also a relatively small picture)
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 I think what you're going for is "throw lefty/bat righty" guys, though wasn't Testes a switch hitter?
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 yeah, i was confused by UMDB which has the following incorrect data:]Aaron Shawn Estes Born: February 18, 1973 at San Francisco, Cal. Throws: Right Bats: LeftHeight: 6.02 Weight: 195i saw "right left" and since i knew he threw lefty i assumed he batted righty without looking too closely to see that they had both wrong (i assumed they were just reversed)baseball reference lists him as a switch hitter but then when i click "splits" it shows 582 plate appearences as a righty (440 vs. righties and 142 vs. lefties) which is his correct total.so i'm not sure what to think.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 who is the guy in the aussie uniform? why two pictures of Thorn?
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 The first picture is a red dot for me.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 the identity of the aussie is a mystery?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Didn't seem that hard when I posted it.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 The first guy is still a mystery to me.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Well, the Aussie uniform pic was sustained in some places, not in others. So now you know you have a (can't believe I'm hand-holding) guy who has played for both St. Lucie and the Aussie national team. But forget that. Focus on row two.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Focus on Row 2? Brown and Doc share a birthday, Mann celebrates the next day, but AY was born on 1/19...
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 And unless it's some sort of "Back To The Future" thing with Doc Brown, I'm stumped.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 No, it's not Doc Brown, but there is a character being referenced.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 (Somebody) Twothorne Young Doc Man Brown?I feel like I'm right there, but yet I'm not close at all.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Holy Crap I think I got it!Thanks to Google]Nathaniel Hawthorne's "Young Goodman Brown"
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Steve's right. The correct answer: OughThornes Young GoodenMann Brown.
Lundy Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 They've all worked in the Mets broadcasting booth at one time or another.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 I don't remember that Red X guy working the mic, but I think Lundy has it.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Fixed, and yupper! All former Mets who went on to be regular broadcasters for the team. All on the TV side interestingly enough, Shamsky was one of the original Sports Channel voices and Buddy did a year in the SC booth in the early 80s. Of course we had Staub's run in the SC booth, Seaver's long run in WPIX/WB booth, and finally Gary Cohen's two booth mates in Keith and Ron.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Taking a wild guess with the first names of the current living Presidents, Jimmy Carter, George Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush?
Lundy Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Living presidents is what I was going for. There hasn't been a Rudolph, Hillary, Mitt or Barack on the Mets, so it could be tough to do that one come 2009...
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Lundy wrote:Living presidents is what I was going for. There hasn't been a Rudolph, Hillary, Mitt or Barack on the Mets, so it could be tough to do that one come 2009...vote for Huckabee. Chuck Norris supports him.
