Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 There was a stretch that ended with Lincoln where most presidents were one-termers. Lincoln, in running for a second term, was actually breaking with recent tradition.Buchanan, instead, may be the last president to retire after one term.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 That's the year my grandmother (still living) was born. She may or may not share a birth date with Dizzy Dean, who is dead at the present time. (I've seen two reported birth dates for Ol' Diz, one of which, January 16, 1911 is the day my grandmother was born.)

Then again, considering recent events he might just have been ahead of his time.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 What I want to know is how did Polk get elected to a second term? And who, besides our bullpen, voted for him?
Guest sharpie Guests Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Polk was a one-termer. His term here, however, goes on and on.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Where is Polk buried? (He was from Tennessee, wasn't he?)Maybe we need to have some kind of graveside exorcism to get him to yield the magic number.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 10John Tyler was the first man to become President due to the elected president not completing his term.
