Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 At least that seems to be the current thinking acc to Newsday's David Lennon.LoDuca claims he'll be ready for Tuesday although some kind of roster move is likely to bring Mike DiFelice up to cover at least today's game.Beltran seems a little more iffy. "[his return] could be Tuesday" says Willie. Also, that they chose to demote a position player instead of a pitcher for Saturday's game implies that they're not ready to DL Beltran, although not necc that they won't.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I'm sure it's not true but seems to me that Omar does this a lot, more than other teams.DiFelice will be called up apparently,Alomar can't be because he was DFA'd and must clear waivers until wednesday.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2007 Author Posted July 29, 2007 Pelfrey sent down, DiFelice "en route"Also,Adkins DFA'd, Newhan back up
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Does a guy who clears waivers on such a transaction have to clear them again for a post-deadline trade?
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 If he had to be put on waivers then he was taken off the 40-man roster. He'd have to be put back on the 40 to be recalled. If he stays down, then he's not on the 40 and doesn't need to be put through waivers again in August.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Beltran likely headed to the DL with possible tearhttp://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070729&content_id=2117305&vkey=news_nym&fext=.jsp&c_id=nym
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 where's that ken griffey jr fellow?why do i have such a hard-on for that trade?
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I'd rather see him shut down for a few more games now than be rushed back and ineffective for the remainder of the year. He'd be eligible to return around 8 August, I believe, so it's only a half-dozen or so games.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 According to the Daily News, Beltran will miss significant time. Although the headline says two weeks, the text of the article suggests it could be more:http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/2007/07/31/2007-07-31_beltran_likely_out_2_weeks.html
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Second year in a row with something like this happening on the day of the trading deadline. Crazy.
