Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Sort of.http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20070404.JAYS04/TPStory/NationalThe commercial has drawn the ire of the Canadian TV officials in charge of regulating advertisements. Globe and Mail wrote:"I think we are taking ourselves a little too seriously if we're saying a pillow fight cannot air because it's viewed as too aggressive, or Frank's too big versus a small child," said Laurel Lindsay, vice-president of marketing for the Blue Jays.I thought it was funny.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 You fear that that's the best take they got. Here's another in the Jays' "Child abuse" series starring Roy Halladay. Most disturbing is the slogan at the end.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I thought both were funny, until the aforementioned slogan at the end.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Holy crap, I didn't even realize that.Somebody pen a strongly worded letter.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I'll stop short of saying these ads encourage mistreatment of kids but there is definitely a similar theme of the taunting of youngsters running through both of those ads.Are you kidding me with that slogan? They didn't even try to camouflage it. They could've written 'You've Got To Believe' but they went right to the trademark!Calling Centerfield...

dinosaur jesus Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Is 487 a lot of home-run hits? I don't think the Globe and Mail copy editor is too familiar with the game of "base-ball."

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 the big hurt has a really shitty staircase railing, doesn't he? it wobbles and shakes with every freakin' step! i mea, he's a big guy, and really lays a big hurtin' on those kids, but, damn, you'd think he could afford better carpentry!
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 its inferior Canadian craftsmanship, buy American or be sorry.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Thought they were fun commercials and nothing to be upset about.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 These are both a little warped. I wouldn't have OK'd them.
