Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 While aware of the criteria for this ... it's still interesting that there's no 2008 slot for Humber.I wonder if perhaps he'll have Pedro's slot, with Pedro in the 'pen...
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I see an injury opening the door for him. Likely to Duque. It's interesting that the entire 2007 projected bullpen is locked up.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Didn't Scarlett's kid (Hieptas) leave the organization last year over a promotion flap? Anyone know if he ever returned?Later
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 I'm not familiar with any such flap, and as far as I know Joe is in spring training.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 Vargas is locked up for next year?I'm still on the record as saying Pedro should close eventually.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2007 Posted February 20, 2007 "Vargas is locked up for next year?" Not "locked up" as far as having an existing multi-year contract, but I think the standard here is that - as an under-6yr player - will still be under team control

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Meanwhile at the UMDB... Yesterday's most popular lookup: Joe Hietpas. What the hell?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Someone at the RCN Corporation in Manhattan spent eight minutes at around 7 p.m. last night continually reloading the page, and then went to a different PC at around midnight and spent another hour reloading Joe Heitpas' page.My anti-Billy Wyne logic allowed only 20 of those clicks to count towards the total, but I guess it was enough to put him over the top for the day.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 Added to Projected RosterRemoved from Projected RosterRelief PitchersBurgosVargasIt's hard to imagine that Jason Vargas will be more valuable than Ambiorix Burgos this time next year, when they're both out of options. They're both more talent than performance so far, but Vargas' greatest value is being a lefty. He was a good workhorse as a rookie, but somehow walked more than he fanned last year. One fun thing about Vargas is that he's a .310 lifetime hitter.Starting PitchersO. MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Methinks a good start for the update would be to replace Adkins with Mota (who will be earning most of the money due him on his 2 year contract).

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 A journeyman catcher at AAA, with 15 games with Milwaukee in 1999 to his credit, but looking like the best of a lot of bad options with Jose A. Reyes scuffling at AAA.Honestly, though, he probably doesn't qualify, not being controlled by the Mets, so Nickeas and Reyes are it.

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 watching Cleveland, it seems they've already given up on Barfield at 2b, and Shoppach has the stuff to be a regular catcher. Plus, Betancourt would look good in our pen.Hey Indians, lets make a deal!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 The last Barfield we had rights to got arrested for knocking his Dad downstairs.

Shoppach needs to cut down on the K's at least a little, but he took a step forward this year and could be a solid regular if given the chance. The Indians have a few good relievers, but given the troubles they had in that department last year I'd be surprised if they consider any of them expendable.
Guest Grote15 Guests Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Is'nt LoDuca the best option at catcher?....You have Mota and heilman back..I'd be surprised if either are back...

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Yeah, the idea is to get a snapshot of where this team is now, or what they'll be fielding in April if they make absolutely no transactions until then.Declined Player OptionStarting PitchersGlavine
