Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Delgado: 'My child comes first'Associated PressLink - ESPNSAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- New York Mets star Carlos Delgado could miss a few games at the start of the regular season for the birth of his child. The first baseman said his wife was due to give birth to the couple's first child within a few days of the Mets' April 1 opener at St. Louis."My child comes first," he told the newspaper El Nuevo Dia.Delgado did not say whether his wife, Betzaida Garcia, planned to give birth in New York or his native Puerto Rico. The Mets said Tuesday they were aware of the pregnancy.Delgado, who had surgery on his left arm in October, hit .265 with 38 homers and 114 RBIs in his first season with the Mets. He then batted .351 with four homers and 11 RBIs in the postseason.

Guest KC Guests Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 She can't suck it up like the Bears' fan and have it a week earlier? Sheesh.

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Yes, he does. But I personally wouldn't mind if they induced labor on March 25 or so.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 Green sits for Yom Kippur, Delgado for his kid's birth-- what a bunch of freeloading loafers.SC= astronomical.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 BTW, that's an incredible job with the thread title. The title was completely true and is not what I originally what I thought it was....but it WAS about the player I though.t it was about.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2007 Posted January 23, 2007 The problem here is obvious. Players need to impregnate their wives during Spring Training so that the birth will be safely tucked away in December. If Delgado is expecting when he is he obviously knocked her up during the All-Star break, another reason to get rid of that embarrasing game.SC=high for those dopes who couldn't tell

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Yup, that's part of my evil plan!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 So here's the plan; One of us has to go down to Fla towards the end of spring training and find the, by that point, very pregnant Ms Delgado. Then, after pausing a few moments to snap a some pictures for use in 'Wifey Watch', sneak up behind her and yell BOOOOO!!!!! at the top of your lungs.Might induce an early labor, yaneverknow..
