Monday Oct. 27th, 1986 and after my Mom gets home from work she decides then of all days to take my clothes shopping! I'm of course freaking out because I fear we won't get back in time for the last game of the World Series. Pretty irrational since then like now the game didn't start until 8:30. Anyhow, I did get this cool new shirt - blue with darkish blue stripes - and put it on when I got home and wore it while watching the game. After the Mets won the World Series, I considered that my lucky shirt and wore every chance I could get. I wore the thing to death, even when I was in college and there were holes in the elbows. Finally, I convinced myself to throw it out.

I wish I had my lucky shirt tonight.
