Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 ="Valadius"]Do we go with this Mike DiFelice:or this one:I prefer the shades. For now, neither. I don't really like including shades. I'll probably replace the Lo Duca mug shot one of these days with one that doesn't include shades, even if I have to abandon the blue cap.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Yancy, why do you have this "thing" against blue caps?Just curious.Later
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I thought his "thing" was big, scaly, and orange. Thanks to Comics Curmudgeon, now when I see a word in quotes I think of this:
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 Royce Ring, still not a blue cap, but better than what's there now.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 The blue caps are the true caps.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Are blue caps preferable to blue batting helmets or are the helmets just as good?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 If I had a cap photo and a helmet photo, both of equal quality, I'd choose the cap. But I've used plenty of helmet photos, and I'm not looking to replace them.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 But blue helmets are better than black caps, right?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Most definitely. If blue caps are 100% desirable, blue helmets are 99%. I make virtually no distinction. (I tried explaining that above but I guess I didn't do a good job of it.)The all-black caps and helmets are a last resort. The blue-brimmed caps occupy the middle ground.I'm not sure where I stand on the blue and black helmets. I think they only appear once, for Xavier Nady.Meanwhile, in other UMDB news, David Wright has finally cracked the all-time Top Twenty for hit counts. In the last day or so he knocked Bobby Valentine out of the Top Twenty and also passed Willie Mays, so he's now in 19th place.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 He was also number one yesterday, relegating poor Cory Lidle to UMDB history.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I noticed that, too. Lidle's reign only lasted three days. (Mookie Wilson won the fourth day after the plane crash.)I think Jeff Reardon got a full week out of his jewelry store robbery.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 All Mookie had to do was appear in the seats at Busch.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 more J-Lo butt shots, please!
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 She is considerably hotter than Rick White.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 One thing I've noticed is that Carlos Delgado rarely gets any hits on UMDB. Even with the postseason he's having, he's still ranked only 757 out of 799.

Right now, to get "into the pack" you have to rise to about 760th place. Now that Delgado's there, he should start passing some people. (The lowest ranked Met who has been in the database since it began is Dennis Musgraves in 760th place. It looks like Delgado passed him about a week ago.)
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2006 Author Posted October 16, 2006 I found a blue cap photo of Jeff Barry:It's a little small, but I can make it bigger. Only problem would be how I get the photo from my desktop to the web.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I can make it bigger, too, but you lose clarity when you do it.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Dear Doctor UMDB;About 3:45 this afternoon, as I was entering an office building, the name Bill Hepler jumped into my head.Is this a serious condition?Do you think it was brought on by reading the name Jay Kleven earlier this afternoon? What do you recommend as treatment?Later
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 Get a good night's sleep.Late night tomorrow.
