And he DOES IT! Anibal Sanchez hurls the Majors first No-Hitter since Randy Johnson for the Diamondbacks May 18, 2004!

Houston gets out of it. Still tied.

Madsen was one strike away from getting out of a bases loaded jam, but Berkman's base-clearing double gives Houston a 5-2 lead.

Harry Kalas sounds incredibly depressed.

Randy Johnson bidding to be second (maybe?) ever to hurl a no hitter for three different teams

KC's pitcher Ryan Braun must be a just called up this day cause he doesn't have an MLB.com photo!

7th inning now

Not gonna happen, not tonight David DeJesus tripled to left

Got picked off at third though!

Is it my imagination or did the last runner beat the throw to first?
Funny how we never saw a replay.

Sanchez, acquired by the Marlins in the Beckett/Lowell trade. In other words, Boston's streak of rotten luck this season continues.

I'll hazard a guess that that's the first time Randy Johnson's ever picked a guy at third.

Actually, I think it was Posada who caught him straying too far off the base .... although where d'hell he was planning on going I have no idea.

Posada, btw, is having a much improved year both offensively AND defensively this season (bucking those predictions for mid-30s catchers) but I'll repeat what I've said a number of times this year; that Yanqui opponents seem to be in a contest with each other to see how many outs they can make on the bases. It's not just the caught stealings - though there have been a number of those - but the stupid shit like DeJesus (a Rutgers man) getting picked off 3rd while trailing by 5 at the time and other inexplicable stuff that I see virtually every time I turn on a MFY game.

Well, that explains it.

I was astounded that Jeff Keppinger, long lauded as an "OBP" guy went up there in the ninth and swung at the first pitch. (He made an out)

Yes, I watched part of a Yankee game.
Forgive me.
I feel dirty, but I actually wanted to see Kepp play.

Any good OBPs that Keppinger put up were mostly due to a decent singles-oriented BA, he never really walked much.
There was a segment of Met fans that went overboard on both him and Andy Hernandez over the winter - "Wow, we're just stacked at 2nd base!!!" - by allowing themselves to be fooled by the fact that last year both had good, though rather empty, BAs with few walks and little power.
