Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Illuminate me, what does Seinfeld have to do with the Wrath of Khan?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 The eleven movies:The Avengers Bewitched The Dukes of Hazzard Fat Albert The Flintstones Inspector Gadget Lost in Space The Mod Squad Scooby Doo SWAT Wild, Wild West I actually didn't see any of them, though I did catch a few minutes of both Flintstones and Scooby on television. Of movies based on TV shows, the only ones I can think of that I've seen are The Brady Bunch Movie and The X-Files. I'm surprised that Cedric's Honeymooners didn't make the list. It looked as awful as a movie can be.EDIT: Oops, I forgot, I did see the first two or three Star Trek movies.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 And the usage in another episode of Kirk screaming Khan's name Khan, which eventually morphed into a screaming of Twiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiix in another episode.

Guest sharpie Guests Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I thought "Head" was pretty good. I mean, I saw it in the '70's on a double bill with "200 Motels" and who knows what I had in my system at the time, but I liked it. Otherwise, I've seen none of the others on Vic's worst list.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Edit: Ya know, Steve's had his balls busted enough these past few days. Never mind.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Would it have had anything to do with him answering a question that was already answered seven days ago?
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 thought "Head" was pretty good. I mean, I saw it in the '70's on a double bill with "200 Motels" and who knows what I had in my system at the time, but I liked it. Otherwise, I've seen none of the others on Vic's worst list. When i ran my campus film series, i too showed it on a double-bill with 200 MOTELS. The Monkees made HEAD to destroy their bland TV-based personas and sabotage the show's success. Which is pretty funny, considering that all they WERE was a TV creation to begin with. The movie is a pseudo-acid trip, with mostly crappy songs. It certainly helps to be in an altered state when watching it. The tv show, goofy and self-conscious as it was, was better. Although the concept of them being merely Victor Mature's dandruff is the stuff of nightmares, and it has stayed with me to this day. I actually love the MONKEES music. They had some of the best songwriters, producers and studio musicians of the period working on their albums. In fact, i bet i could put up a pretty impressive top ten in the BLC ratings competition, if i were of a mind to.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Plus they were funny.I like the show. I didn't think they needed the movie to subvert the show. I think it did a pretty good job subverting itself.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 I never watched the show, but loved the commercial and opening credits showing the fourth one trying to fly and failing. Cracked me up every time.Actually this memory is fuzzy. This is The Monkees tv show I'm thinking of right?
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Great obscure fact about the Monkees TV show: It won the Emmy for outstanding comedy series in 1967, beating out Bewitched, Get Smart, Hogan's Heroes and Andy Griffith
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Did anyone see the Miami Vice movie?
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Scooby Doo isn't bad, especially if you watch it with a 5-year-old.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Serenity is an awesome flick, they never should have canceled Firefly, it's simply brilliant.I have a bone of contention with Joss Whedon however regarding two people he killed off however...
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 a fellow browncoat!!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefly_(television_series)yeah, i was sad about Whedon's decision to kill off those characters, too. But its a dangerous universe.
