Urdaneta climbs back to AA, Kunz remains unsigned, and St. John's product Sam Deluca debuts, finally giving Keith Hernandez someone to correctly call Deluca. All that and more in this week's System-Wide Roster Update.

More roster moves coming Sunday and Monday as Perez and Sosa will be activated to start the next two games, respectively.

Obvious moves would seemingly be to demote Pelfrey and Williams (who would have to clear waivers) but I suppose they could keep Pelfrey in the 'pen and drop Alomar back to AAA.

I'm a little late with the move on the left, a little early with the one on the right. FK already announced it, but the thread's got to be up to date. It's just got to be.

That's like the third DFA in a week.

A weeks worth of transactions and the addition of the Dominican Summer League Baby Mets are in this week's System-Wide Roster Update

It's kind of crowded, but I'm going to try to update it daily. I'll likely fail, but it's too confusing to do weekly.

Things are really coming to a head as we shuffle that deck over and over and keep drawing deuces in the outfield.

Just heard on the radio that Anderson Hernandez was recalled from AAA.
He was actually hot there, raising his average about 30 points to .280 in recent weeks.

The thing about Hernandez is that there's been no viable backup at shortstop recently also.

Even less so with Valentin out.

It's almost pointless to carry a backup shortstop, because if the Mets ever lost Reyes they'd be so badly f*cked it wouldn't matter. That, and all but 12 innings this year at SS have been played by Reyes.

Gotay has the 12 innings, btw.

With Alou expected to be activated on Tuesday, and Easley coming back from the bereavement list, who goes? One wonders if Sandy Alomar can stave off demotion for a while longer, and Hernandez / Ambres get the boot.

I'll disagree with your point about the effficacy about having a shortstop-capable infield sub --- not to mention someone who can help out three defensively inferior secondbasemen, plus pinch-run.

I don't think they've found enough work for Sandy Jr.

Just heard that Brian Lawrence is scheduled to start Thursday's game.
I wonder who will be leaving.
And how (DFA, DL, other?)

apparently DeFelice if Loduca's fit to play Newhan if Loduca's hammer is still barking.

By the way I saw the other day where the DiFelice situation resulted in the Mets signing 35-y.o. career reservist Shawn Wooten to a minor-league deal. Wooten (who I recall as a big hairy first baseman) played with the Angels and Phillies and maybe a few others and must be in AAA or something now.

Ben Johnson broke his ankle and will be out for the rest of the year. I don't think that takes him off the 40-man roster, though, he's just on the minor-league disabled list until the end of the minor league season.

Edgy, I know you've put this out before, but what do the blue and orange frames mean? Is it something we could leave as a key on the bottom of the table?

This team looks a lot different than it did on page 1.
