Demoted to New OrleansPromoted from New Orleans

Newhan

Ledee
This'll take a roster transaction to effect, which shouldn't be too big a problem having three guys that can go onto the 60-day disabled list, but I'm going to guess that they just remove Newhan. He's got to clear waiverrs to get a New Orleans assignment.

I like this maneuver, even though I'm underwhelmed by the upgraded from Newhan to Ledee. Newhan's best asset, his infield/outfield versatility, is worth far less whey you're playing American League ball, and are never compelled to switch guys out during a pitching change.

Raise your hand if you thought you catch yourself thinking, "Thank God Shawn Green is back."

Higher, please, I can't see you.

Meanwhile Ricky Ledee sticks around to try another look, meaining we stick with four outfielders. A lot of conffidence being shown in the Goat here.

[causing trouble here]
Would be cool if a version of this thread - one with all the pretty pictures for the active guys plus the longer agate list for the backwoods teams - were reachable via a direct link at the top.[/causing trouble]

We could still have a thread for the in and outs and ups and downs, but a more permanent spot for the full list would make it a kind of one-stop shopping spot for EVERYTHING you need to know about the current state of your New York Met players.

I like that idea FK,there have been times when I would need to search for this thread, even though Edgy keeps it up to date if he's not around for a few days then it goes of the top page.

Would a top link to the last page in this thread do it?

The logistics might be tough,I think you might have to reconfigure this thread to make it work, certainly us being able to post in the thread would not work.

Edgy - 'Raise your hand if you thought you catch yourself thinking, "Thank God Shawn Green is back." '

I'm definitely glad to see he's back. I never expected him to be so valuable to the team. I just hope he hasn't lost his stroke while he was out.

I was thinking of a seperate page more along the lines of the FAQ.
I realize that probably means hosting it off-site which opens up a can of worms (told ya I was causing trouble) and probably makes it tougher to update and so on.

The problem with linking directly to this thread would be that the reader would have to hack through all kinds of extraneous chat (like this post for instance) just to get to the latest update.
But if it's just a whole lot easier than an off-site spot then maybe a link could go to a seperate single-post (and locked) thread - created and stashed in some out of the way forum - which would consist of just the current major & minor league rosters. This thread could still be used to announce call-ups and send-down while the permanent one need only be edited to reflect the current state of the roster as a result of those changes.

The purpose, in my mind, would be not only to give the folks here a one-click entry to current roster info, but also as an attraction that the CPF is a place that has a complete and accurate overview.
Seems like most of the work is already being done and that a new spot for just the current info could be done with a small amount of cut-n-pasting.

I'll upload a page tonight (or tomorrow night, or one of the nights after that, God willing), if the bannermaker will update the banner.

OK, I've updated these guys. I've actually been coming back to this page for a week, and every time I double check my work, somebody else moves or appears. I figured I'd just go ahead an upload it, and it'll be cleaner this week.

Get ready for the most convoluted systemic update of the year.

http://www.getalifealready.com/cpf/System-WideRoster.htm

No, I don't know why the short-season teams get away with such big rosters. The rosters are smaller on the team sites than they are at the minor league baseball site, but I checked some of the players who were acknowledged one place and not the other, and they had been getting into games.

This will be clearer next week.

Roster move coming this week with no obvious answer.

Gotay would have to go through waivers, and we'd risk losing him.
Removing Ledee would leave us with only 3 outfielders.
Schoeneweis could get demoted, and would likely clear waivers.
Smith has options.

We could get by without Ledee for a week. Can't Easley and Valentin play some outfield? Even Lo Duca can, in a pinch. (Except for the two games when he'll be suspended, natch.)

They can also get by without Smith for a week too, though I'm less thrilled with that idea. I think before optioning Smith I'd try to get Sele through waivers.

When LoDuca goes on suspension, the Mets will have to either go with Valentin as the emergency catcher for two days or send someone down and recall an experienced backup.

Also- my kid Worthington is no longer in extended Spring Training. He pitched for one of the low A teams the other night. (See adoptees)

It should be cleaner next go-round, but going from five to eight teams was a bitch. Don't know how Tony Bernazard (or whoever is in charge of advancement) does it.

I think the All-Star Break is helping us get through a real pinch here, with two hurt starting pitchers. We might've seen some Brian Lawrence action otherwise.

Frutrated Roster Compiler Seeks Shakeup

Washington, 7/5/2007
In a shakeup that several veteran Crane Poolers view as overdue, Crane Pool roster complier Edgy DC stripped Scott Schoeneweis of the coveted Tug McGraw Memorial Goofy Reliever Roster Slot, turning the honor over to sidearming rookie reliever Bazooka Joe Smith.

"It's nothing anybody was looking forward to," DC said, "but look, our fun factor has been [buttocks] recently. Nobody likes to get a beat down in Denver, and the kid (Smith) has been bringing it. The 'fun'-nest thing about Scottie this season was his bizzarro perfection on the road, while getting his clock cleaned at Shea. That was only 'fun' in an ironic sense and we don't have that any longer."

"Listen," DC added, "It's hard to let him fill an honored Memorial Roster Spot when he's --- and I mean this with all due respect --- barely hanging on to a roster spot of any sort."

"Any sort..." DC tailed off.

DC let this bomb drop while publishing an updated roster documenting David Newhan's return to the Mets' roster. Newhan had been batting .338 with a .914 OPS while slumming with New Orleans.

Asked whether the appointment of Smith had anything to do with Smith being his adopted son, DC mutttered a largely incoherent statment about "rat bastards" keeping him down. The press conference ended abruptly.
