Guest Hillbilly Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Bannister faced two batters today and left with an injury. That doesn't sound like good news.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 OK, I'm sitting here laughing to myself, thinking about Scott Speizio in the lineup:Pretty decent player once.2002: BA: .285 /.371 / .436 // .807But then he started to fade early.2003: .265 / .326 / .453 // .779Until he became a drain on his team.2004: .215 / .288 / .346 // .634And seemingly played his way out of baseball.2005: .064 /.137 / .149 // .286Well, thinks I, I guess that's the last time I'll see Scott Speizio.2006: .263 / .368 / .544 // .912Holy crap!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 ]That doesn't sound like good news.It stinks, to be perfectly honest.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Scott Speizio has been washing away at a rate similar to Lima's, and if he can briefly resurrect himself, so can Jose. That's my story and I'm paying a kid to stick to it for me.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Speeze makes the first out of the game. It's killing me.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I think this is Valentin's first MLB start at 2B.
Guest Hillbilly Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Ok, its settled. No hitter wont be happening today.
Guest Hillbilly Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 There go the shut-out. Rolen takes 2nd when Beltran misses cut-off man.
Guest Hillbilly Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 2-0 nothing as Lima approaches 30 pitches.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Entirely predictible. I can't for the life of me figure out why we gave this guy 3 starts. Any update on Bannister? If he's out for any length of time, please, for the love of Christ, Opus Dei & Audrey Tautau, put Heilman in the fucking rotation.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I don't want to see Darrin Oliver in this game. This is a perfect chance to let Aaron Heilmann prove that he can pitch 5 innings, as a tryout for the rotation. If Willie's not going to do that, let's see if Feliciano can re-capture some of his 4 inning magic from a few years ago (before Willie got here). The next starter is on the current roster, if only Willie would give one of those two guys a chance.Later
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Spezio catches the Wright pop up. Making an impact in the early going.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 12 innings without scoring a run.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 ]This is a perfect chance to let Aaron Heilmann prove that he can pitch 5 innings, as a tryout for the rotation. Heilman has proven that already.

Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Thanks, Hillbilly!Lima with 2 outs and a runner at third. Pesky Ecksty at the plate.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Heilman's career numbers as a starter:5 wins 13 losses, 5.93 ERA, 134.2 IP, 144 H, 66 BB, 106 KI know he's done very well as a reliever, but that's just it, a reliever. I'm not sold that Aaron's the answer. Maybe he deserves a shot, but let's not pretend he's guaranteed to solve the problem...most likely he'll just give us more of the same while hurting the pen.
Guest Hillbilly Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 He's got his ERA up into double figures. Well maybe not, he did make an error saving himself a few points. Lima time is DFA time.
Guest Hillbilly Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 But you gotta love the fist pump after what?4 runs and like 80 pitches in 2 innings?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Most of his starting numbers were racked up before he made his adjustments and turned the corner. Even if not, a 5.93 ERA is looking pretty good right now.
