nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 wait, i can give negative numbers??Zambrano -zillionMatsui -zillionok, i think the final totals should come out right where i want them now.

It will come up as a positive five when I tally the votes. PLEASE don't post fake votes, they either cause me difficulty or screw up the voting, or both.
Guest old original jb Guests Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 You don't have a way of adding/differentiating negative contributions? That wasn't intended as a fake vote. I felt that some players contributed in one direction while one player contributed in the other.

Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Thank you, Johnny. This depends on everybody cooperating. If the tallying becomes a pain in the ass, I'll stop doing it.

I certainly appreciate YSG's efforts and don't wish to cause a problem. I was mostly joking about using negative numbers to describe a player who is among my least favorite.I would like to know where I might find the POTG rules today, and request that they be posted someplace where they are easy to find, perhaps along with rules to/explanations about other Cranepool activities of which some of us may lose track during those times when we are forced to attend to other earthly concerns. Hey--is that smug and shrill enough for you guys?
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 nah, could use some more shrillness.the smugness is spot on, tho.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Sorry, didn't wanna sound too harsh. In the AP Schaefer discussion thread it reads:]Last name (no first names or nicknames please) followed by points. Last year dashes and colons gave me problems, but now the spreadsheet can ignore them.If you give fractional votes, please do decimals and not old-fashioned fractions.Maximum for any one player is 6 points, maximum total number of points allowed for the game is 10.Although there's been quite a bit of discussion over what merits how many points, it's really up to the discretion of the voter. We all have our different priorities, but when the votes are tallied, we end up with our overall consensus. In other words, don't worry too much about the "not enough love" or "too much love" comments. There's no smallest number allowed, but realistically, anything lower than a 0.1 is probably going to have virtually no impact on the final tally.

In the AP Schaefer discussion thread it reads...... It's OK. Some weeks I can't keep up with all that's on the Cranepool, and this week I've been exposed to some unpleasantness here (no names mentioned of course) so I have a shorter fuse than usual.I still don't exactly see where it says you can't use negative numbers, but I guess that's implied. I'm not sure how YSG is entering the data, but if the spread sheet can't handle the negative digits, I'll have to find some other way to express my feelings about our fifth starter.I do think that a section detailing Cranepool institutions, their rules, and also a history of handles (which already exists somewhere on here but hasn't been updated lately) would be very helpful both to new and old posters. Not to assign work to others (heh heh), but maybe an "about the Cranepool" forum with these topics as stickies could be added someday to the non-baseball fora.
