inside the park homer for Matsui, he has now homered in his first at bat of every season with the Mets...the disappointment starts here...

edit- Traschel hits one off Peavy's foot, now thats a good idea!

For the third year in a row, KazMat's first at bat of the season is a home run (although this is the first inside the parker) -

Ka-Boom!

Nice bit of third base coaching by Manny Acta there, too. It was pretty ballsy sending Matsui coming off a knee injury and leading off the inning, but it worked out great.

Seriously though. That has to have never happened before. First at bat of a player's first three seasons in a row?

How about first at-bat of any three seasons in a row?

How about first at-bat of any three seasons in a career (Rickey must have done that at least.)

you better delete that, it seems pretty racist, kinda like whenever you say any two black people look alike.
SC= pretty high.

Did Elster get out of bed when Matsui homered just to post? I think so...

True. Galante would've sent him back to first.

Shirley we all realize that Andy has a better mitt than Kaz, but maybe the difference in speed is not that great. Kaz was flying.

Nady throws home over the cutoff man foolishly....again. Roberts gets to second.

Don't worry, Kaz will be up at least twice more today.

I never claimed Kaz didn't have speed, but then again Rey Ordonez was fast, its all about knowing how to use it properly (which Kaz did know how to do in Japan.)

Your mom just fell asleep, I didn't want to wake her with the television.

he hasn't been pretty out there, but Diaz managed to make himself look worse by having the ball go under him in a rare start this year.

As long as Nady is hitting theres nothing to complain about.

I was wincing even as I hit the "Submit" button. Wasn't sure how you would take it. "Your mom" jokes became a matter of course for my buddies and I growing up to the point that they didn't mean anything. I sometimes forget to modify my behavior when interacting with the real world. My apologies if you were offended. (sc = zero)

yay for beltran!
lets steal one of piazza!!

]And I'll gladly accept the "I told you so's" if Matsui is hitting .138 in May.

May would be too soon for that, I'm a believer in large sample sizes.
