Seaver won it in 1977, after going to Cincinnati. He left with 189 wins and pounded out 14 more with the Red Machine that season.

Hershiser, as far as I know, is the only one. Guys who arrived with number 200 already notched included Spahn, Mickey Lolich, and Tom Glavine.

Koosman won his 200th with the White Sox in 1983, which is cool because he came over to the Phils in 1984 with 202 wins, so we weren't in a position to root against him as he sought his 200th.

On edit: Frank Tanana also joined the Mets with over 200 wins.

He ended up with 176.

Dwight Gooden arrived with zero and left with 157.

I guess Seaver is unbeatable. He left in 1977 with 189 career wins and turned around and left in 1984 with 198 Met wins. A serious tease to the round-number lovers.

Other round-number near misses: George Foster, 99 home runs. Howard Johnson, 997 hits. Jerry Grote, 994 hits.

Gary Cohen just said that only three pitchers reached 200 wins with fewer losses than Pedro's 84. He didn't say who any of them were, though.

John Olerud did it (1997?), Kevin McReynolds did it in August 1989. Keith Hernandez did it in the 19-inning game in Atlanta in 1985. I want to say that Alex Ochoa did it too, but that might be wrong.

Jim Hickman hit for the "natural cycle" in 1963, one of only 13 times that has been accomplished in MLB history.

Jose Valentin also hit for the natural cycle while with the White Sox in 2000. Anyone else think that he will fail to complete the cycle over the course of this season?

George Foster hit his 300th at the beginning of the 1985 season. He also drove in his 1000th run in 1983 by beating out an apparent double-play grounder as Mookie Wilson scored the go-ahead run all the way from second.

Sometime in 1982 came Kingman's 300th. Mazzilli hit his 100th as a Met. Straw hit his 100th in 1986 and his 200th in 1989.
