Mets going for the 3 game sweep, it'll be Victor Zambrano vs. Washington's opening day starter Livan Hernandez.

Also making a season debut for the Mets, C Ramon Castro.

I thought Diaz would get a start with the rest of the B-Team today. Woody 2nd? I'd have put Nady up there and moved the rest of the replacements to the end of the lineup. Why not Valentin at 2B instead of Woody against a righty?

Because Valentin sucks?

Isn't this Woody's season debut?

Mets v. Hernandez

Beltran: 27 AB, .766 OPS, 1 HR, 1 BB, 4 K
Castro: 11 AB, 1.000 OPS, 1 HR, 0 BB, 3 K
=orange]Delgado: 29 AB, .929 OPS, 3 HR, 4 BB, 5 K
=orange]Diaz: 10 AB, .955 OPS, 0 HR, 1 BB, 4 K
Floyd: 38 AB, .860 OPS, 1 HR, 7 BB, 4 K
LoDuca: 54 AB, .900 OPS, 2 HR, 5 BB, 5 K
=orange]Reyes: 32 AB, .803 OPS, 2 HR, 1 BB, 4 K, 1 SB
=blue]Woody: 12 AB, .417 OPS, 0 HR, 0 BB, 3 K
Wright: 25 AB, 1.269 OPS, 3 HR, 2 BB, 2 K

Nady's done well in 6 AB. It's a small sample size, but batting Woody second looks kind of retarded.

]Because Valentin sucks?

Unlike the offensive terror known as Chris Woodward. I understand getting Woody some work, but I'm just suggesting that it might make more sense to wait for there to be a lefty on the mound to do it. And it doesn't make much sense to bat him second.

He had a pinch hit AB vs. Florida.

Based on the fact that last saturday, Willie used a similar lineup when he was going to rest LoDuca...I'm venturing a guess that Woody is Willie's designated #2 when Castro is catching, to avoid shaking up the lineup too much...

I agree that Woodward shouldn't be batting second, but I like him in the lineup today. He hit .312 vs. RHP last season (.260 v. LHP). Valentin, OTOH, hit .316 v. LHP (in only 19 AB) last season and only .148 against RHP.

A better option is to bat Woodward (or Valentin) 7th and to move everyone else up one spot in the lineup.

But Willie would rather stick with his own dumb idea then admit that one that everyone else realizes is better.

I'm going to repost the lineups for posterity. If OlerudOwned ever removes that picture in his ImageShack account, or if ImageShack shuts down, we'll lose the lineups.

Good idea. Should I take the ones you post and move them up to the top in an edit?

Back-to-Back, Wright and Floyd.

The day begin's the party ends
He hesitates a while
There is this kiss he would not miss
He does it with a smile

Boom Boom!
Here they go again!
Boom Boom!

Boom Boom!
And my heart beats!
Boom Boom!

A helpful friend, oh what a friend
I look at him with thanks
He reaches deep into his coat
What has he in his hands?

Boom, Boom!
Here they go again!
Boom Boom!

Boom Boom!
And my heart beats!
Boom Boom!

The doorbell goes, and I don t know
Who outside may be
A high heeled shoe a naked leg
Does she come to me?

Boom Boom!
Immer wieder wieder
Boom Boom!

Boom Boom!
Und mein Herz klopft!
Boom Boom!

The satellite was out of sight
Radioactive though
!uite alright when it was high
But now it's very low

Boom Boom!
Immer wieder wieder
Boom Boom!

Boom Boom!
Und mein Herz klopft!
Boom Boom!

Not off this pitching staff.

Livan, at least, is a good pitcher.

Well, Zambrnao mows em down, 1-2-3, throwing only 15 pitches in the process.

Nice.

Livan, at least, is a good pitcher.

Who allows a wacky number of hits every year, a decent number of which fly out of the park. (I know, he throws more innings than other teams' entire pitching staffs, so he's of course more likely to have a higher hits allowed total.)
