According to ESPN.com, Orlando Hernandez has been named the #2 starter in Arizona. Hope you got this information in time to adjust your spreadsheets accordingly.

Im sure Im not the only one who cant believe the Angels sent Jared Weaver down.
Thats pretty wack.

That one's a mind-boggler, to be sure. His pitching so far would be equivalent to Milledge having something like an 1.100 OPS, and I can't imagine Milledge would return to Norfolk if he were doing that. How well did the guy have to pitch?

The Angels are suffering from being too old at some spots and too young at others, but I just don't see how demoting a kid who's doing that well benefits the team either in the short term or long term.

Just a note for a distraction so youz can all laugh in my general direction for some comic relief.

Byrd pitched a great game tonight.
Im already counting his win as mine.

Up 7-0 in the 8th--
and the Red come back to take the game in the last two frames capped by an Adam (whiffking) Dunn walk off grand salami in the 9th.

It could have been worse-Byrd was removed from the game earlier, but---AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
-
that just sucked anal fudge.

Of course it could be worse. You could own Wickman.

meanwhile, down here- the Hillenbrand thing really sucks.

Hes not DL eligible--I guess he just goes NA--or no status change.

theres no way Im gonna drop the guy.

What a bitch.

Who knows tho, maybe a change of scenery will make this a good thing for him performance wise.

Bizarre treatment for a productive player on a competitive team, to be sure, but you just don't know what he said.

The Padres desperately need a third baseman, and the Angels would happily move Kennedy to get Hillenbrand, so I wouldn't expect Shea to be in limbo for long.

More wierd news-

Astros demoted LHP Wandy Rodriguez to Triple-A for RHP Matt Albers from Double-A.

Rodriguez led the 'Stros staff in victories with 9.

New kid looks good, but this is still a pretty wack move (no details yet).

I had Wandy earlier in the season. He got 4 of the wins in April and has gotten shelled frequently since.

Hillenbrand wound up in San Franciso, although Jeremy Accardo could turn out to be a very steep price to pay, especially if Benitez goes to the DL again.

The Astros felt they could improve on Rodriguez' 5.22 ERA. They have a bunch of young starters, but are still waiting for one or two of them to establish some consistency.

I bet they could, but they are playing real baseball, not fantasy baseball.
The guy had 9 wins, most on the staff.
Hey, maybe its a great move-I dunno.
I just find it wierd to demote your winningest pitcher during a pennant race.

Yea-I saw Hillenbrand got picked up late last night.
I think he's gonna be a fine fit in S.F.
Accardo is alot to give up, considering he could become a fine closer some day.
Im just glad Hillenbrand is playing again.

I never heard all that crap about his past problems ( was it in Boston?) in baseball until this happened.
Now he gets a rep as a selfish non-team player. I wonder if thats a fair assessment........
All I got from this is he likes to play and dont like it when he doesnt.
He was always just a quite guy who was a pretty solid player, as far as I knew.

And still know, for that matter.
I hope he flourishes on the Giants, more so for him and his career than my fantasy baseball team.

I really wish they would move this guy anywhere so Kendrick plays fulltime.
And its not like they aint tryin,....I would think.

I went prospecting on Kendrick about a month ago, but a couple of my regulars got hurt and I needed the roster space. I had Kennedy earlier in the year too, but I figured out he's just not that good a hitter anymore and the Angels evidently haven't yet. I also had Juan Rivera, who sucked for me and was showing no signs of becoming good when he got hurt and I dropped him. You win some, you lose some.

As poorly as the Angels have handled Kendrick and Weaver, they could still blow past the A's and win that division handily.

Yea- the Angels are a force to be reckoned with.
Great performance by Weaver today.

I saw you got Kendrick to have and to hold, and it was at a time I was just waiting on word of his call-up, and I had an eye on him. So I was a lil ticked you scarfed him up - but they still werent giving him the call. Then when you dropped him---- I did the same thing--- snatched him up and tried to hold him. I also had to drop him after waiting just so long.
It just happened to be reading updates one night when I saw his call-up, and reaquired him.
He had a nice start but he's not rockin the world or anything.
I figure he's good for SBs and AVG. I need SBs.
At first I thought they were gonna platoon him with Kennedy, but now I cant tell what their immediate plans are.
Hey! today they started him at third. How about that.
I guess if they want to move Kennedy they have to play him and give other teams a look. And, truthfully, Kennedy has been hitting a bit lately.

And today Polanco gets polunked in the face.....lol.
He was just heating up at the plate too.

Like you said with Rivera---the best laid plans of mice and men---and allAdat.
Im really superstitious when it comes to Mets players.
If I pick one up Im afraid I might be jinxin em.

So, of course, I take personal responsibility for Pelfreys loss today.
But hes not gonna get by with fastball alone. Ill pull him aside and tell him that.
I can only hope he makes the adjustments.

Smg- I also hope Berkmans okay. Your lucky you do have depth if you have to deal with his loss, even temporarily.

The fact that Berkman walked off the field was encouraging. They have today off, and I'm assuming till I hear otherwise that he plays on Tuesday. Watching the play, I couldn't help thinking of Gagne -- one lousy save all year, and it had to be against the Mets.

I'll have more depth when the Pirates finally deal Craig Wilson, but at least he plays against lefties. I'm guessing that the Reds/Nationals deal makes Aurillia close to a full-time player, but I bet I'm not the only fantasy owner who wishes he could figure out the pattern to when Narron starts somebody and when he sits him.

Here's a good one. I just traded for Dave Bush, only to find to my horror that the Brewers have gotten into the habit of using him in the pen three days after his starts. WTF??? And it's not like he's thriving under these conditions. I'm just glad he was on my bench last night.

at least the Brewers are experimenting rather than using the good old "well nobody else does it so it must be wrong."

whether or not it helps his roto stats, i like the idea of using starters, who will be throwing on the side anyway that day, in relief occassionaly as they are likely to be better pitchers than all but hte top 2 or 3 relievers on most teams and its always good to give important innings to good pitchers

Breaking News: Vacations Suck.

I set my lineup for the full week+ in advance but still lost 7 points off my lead.
Pissass.

Dear Mike Napoli,

Was it something I said?

Dear Minnesota Twins,

Is there a reason you waited a day to DL Liriano? I had a pitcher in mind, but I couldn't make room while Liriano was active, and now abogdan just picked the guy up. I suppose I'll forgive you if it turns out that Liriano is healthy enough to go out and pitch a shutout this weekend, but we both know the chances of that. Thanks.
