I used to draw baseball stadia in good ol' pencil. A sports caroonist named Willard Mullin had a book of his hand drawings of all the stadia, with cartoons that showed famous moments in each. Mullin's books got me interested in drawing them myself.

My favorites to draw were Forbes Field and Candlestick park. I never could get Crosley Field right. I stopped doing it when all those oval multi-purpose places looked alike.

Edgy, if you draw that, they will come. That was beautiful, man.

I loved his stuff. Those were fun to look at.

I love that stadium drawing Edge but its not very Clemsian,lol.

I started this thing, but Im stuck. I was thinkin along the lines of something like the pic you put up DC. Design wise.
Now, does anyone know for sure where the Mets hope or plan to build the new stadium?
Cuz Im always reading the city block type architecture layout.

I started one within a rectangle, but it dont look right...........

Once i get past that I should be able to put something together.

Or someone give me a block or a shape and Ill create it within it.
Alls I need is a starting point and this will be fun to do.

Edgy cheated so patently that it makes me sick that it took five posts to call me out.

OK, here we go. The most obvious feature of Il Stade d'Edgy is that the outfield bleachers are so far off that they'll only be reached once a decade, by a mutant with the wind at his back. This is a variation on the open-stadium concept I've pitched to little success. The bleachers here would be even harder to reach by being suspended on large columns 25 feet in the air.



The way to hit for power in this park is to drive the ball --- past the outfielders, over them and betwixt them --- then run, you lazy bum, as the ball just. Keeps. Going. I've stuck some dots to show where typical outfielders might be positioned. I think that would be medium-deep. With the raised bleachers, the ball could continue under the seats, still in play as it rolls into the parkland behind.

This is the way we played in my Babe Ruth League, and it's more action-filled and exciting. Instead of umberhulks like Jim Thome jogging around the bases, they'd have to haul it as fast as their tree limbs could carry them, with the prospect of one outfielder going under the bleachers and relaying it to a second one before it gets in to an infielder in an attempt to catch the wheezing sluggers.

Another advantage of the superduper-deep bleachers is being able to feature other on-field features deep in the outfield. You can see the visitor bullpen under the display scoreboard in left-center --- their bench is under the bleachers and the flagpole to the right of the scoreboard, with the home bullpen in right-center, shaded by a single lonesome tree, a tree that will come to be seen as almost sacred by the home afficianados. While seeming like hazards, they can be expected --- like the bleachers above them --- to come into play only about once or twice a decade.

While those bleacher seats would be far far away, hopefully the novelty will stick some fannies up there. They'd definitely be the cheapies and the giveaways, and once a decade, somebody would get a very special souvienier. Here's a frontal view of the bleachers with some bad perspective.

And yer right...playin in the CYO I led my team in homers one year and never hit one over a wall or fence during a game.
All were over their heads or gappers, and nothin to stop em.

Im sure the outfield fence demensions arent accurate to scale, but I was more concerned with using numbers more significant to us Met fans.
The 329 down the RF line does not apply to that effort.

.....i expected some basklash on sticking the Shea apple out in the playground area so kids can climb on it.

And when someone hits a homer (they cant see the game from back there) it pops up and all the kids go flying.

if you mean does it face 3 ways,yes.
and its huge and has everything.
3 Diamond vision screens, one facing each and they can be linked for a panoramic view.
And those are seats on top.

Im having a constrution crew raise my scoreboard and add a black backdrop underneath.
The entire scoreboard goes totally black before a pitch.
Im sure this will be screwed up from time to time , but the techs will be trained only to do it when the visitor is at bat in crucial situations..
