nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I'm always looking for more leagues and they just aren't satisfying when you are playing against random yahoos from yahoo that stop paying attention the 2nd week of May. I'm starting this thread to gauge interest in either a cheap ($10-$20 per person) or free league consisting of only members of this forum. we'd run the league with yahoo or some other free service and worry about the rules once we see who wants in...
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 hey, i was in a mofo fantasy baseball league last year, stopped paying attention altogether between may and late september, and won the darned thing outright. the only time i payed attention was the last week of the final round of playoffs. i practically led most of the year. if its free, i'll be in. and pay more attention.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I'm interested if it's free.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I've done Yahoo Fantasy Baseball for years, and it's wonderful. I'm in.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 I'm in either for free or the money one, I finished third this past season in my yahoo league,I would really love to have a league for people on this forum, good idea Nymr83.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted November 25, 2005 Posted November 25, 2005 Im in. Ill try and get my brothers involved in one here, if we lack for teams.(we will probly always do our 4 team family one too)
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I'm in. Would we do NL only or MLB?
Guest abogdan Guests Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Can never have enough fantasy baseball leagues. Count me in for a free Yahoo league.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 If its free or cheap ($10 and under), I'm in.

Guest Kong76 Guests Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I haven't been in one for years. It might be fun to have a CPF though.
patchyfogg Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I'm in.How 'bout no Yankees or Braves allowed?
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 That would be a fun and interesting twist - might even get a few more towant to give it a whirl.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 MLB only is a must. Trust me.On edit: And yes, Edgy, go ahead and create a subforum.

Guest Kong76 Guests Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I poked around Yahoo, when does the baseball stuff start showing up inthe fantasy sports section? Or is it there and I'm just missing it?
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 around the time pitchers and catchers report
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I'm interested.Might be a little tricky incorporating the no Yankee/Brave rule. Since the Yankees are always trading for the best players mid-season, someone could end up with one of their top picks on the Yankees.
Guest cooby Guests Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I would like to join this (if free). Last year on my fantasy team, I had all Mets, with some additional players from the Red Sox and Indians, but I'll bet you won't let me have all the Mets, will you?I think if enough people join, we won't be able to leave out yankees and Braves.I'll warn you, I don't trade!
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I'll be more than happy to set this up. I know the ins and outs of Yahoo Fantasy Baseball, and I highly recommend it.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Well, so long as you don't steal nymr's thunder. It sounds like maybe youtwo could be co-commish's. Last time I participated in anything like this it was done by email on 14400baud modem. We have a lot of time, can someone describe briefly what we are going to do?Besides the obvious.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 not sure exactly what you mean, we'll need to decide on rules (roster sizes, scoring system, draft method, etc) i guess by voting once we know who is playing.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 You explained it, I was afraid that maybe I didn't know some givens ... but there aren't any. Thx.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 I'd be interested, but it looks like my job is going to take me out-of-the country for eight weeks next summer, with limited internet access.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 Edgy, if you'd like to start a sub-forum for us that would probably help, i'd hate to clog the main forum with multiple threadsDocTee, if you'd like to participate you can set your team to allow the commisioner to make changes, in which case while you are gone we could replace any injury you may suffer with a guy from your bench or the "best" available player (by yahoo rankings.)
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 That'd be great, NYMR-- if you need an additional owner to flesh out the league, count me in!
Guest Matt Murdock, Esq. Guests Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 as attorney for Mr. Vic Sage, he's authorized me to pledge his cooperation in a free Yahoo fantasy league, with or without Yanks/Braves.
